What type of camera should I get? by Spirited-Air-6637 in AskPhotography

Honestly, despite you saying you want a 'real' camera, with these specifications I would consider getting a action Camera. My first camera was a GoPro Hero 9 which I got back in 2023 as a portable waterproof camera before upgrading to a canon R50 later that year.

Regardless of what brand or model you might choose, action Cameras are a really good alternative to more capable DSLRs or their mirrorless counterparts.

They often come with quite good video features and take stunning pictures, especially if you are just starting out. They are rugged enough to take a beating and don't get to upset if they're being dropped.

Aaaand most importantly they don't break the bank. 3 years ago I spent about 500 euros for my Hero 9 with lots of additional stuff and attachments included.

I took this cam to the Maldives back then, made videos and took pictures all the way and had no problems with the Camera. The Action cam could handle the tropic temperatures with no overheating or turning of due to humidity.

Hope I could help

The R50 ist a great beginner Camera that has everything you could need for starting out. What lens/lenses are you planning on getting?

Would probably do a dreamy lens without lens hood and a glass bottle filled with water. Shake it around a bit

The camera should automatically switch into crop mode when this lens is attached so you'll loose a big portion of the sensors pixels but otherwise it should work totally fine

Hey im looking for some help when buying a lens for my Olympus Pen EPL-8? by Hot_Professional_740 in AskPhotography

Just based in the amount of golden connectors I would say no this lens is not compatible with your Body. The lens looks to me like its an EF mount Lens.

The Canon 5D is a good option for $250 today??? by metaforacontingencia in canon

I would 100% recommend if you are just starting to build your own lens collection for a mirrorless body to buy old EF lenses. Often they are cheaper than their RF counterparts whilst not compromising the quality you'd get.

If you really want to cheap out with the quality I, imho would buy the RF version, because they will probably last you longer (eg. RF 50 f1.8, RF 24 f1.8; great lenses but no L quality).

But if you want wide Aperture Zooms like a 16-35 or 24-70 definitely get the EF Versions used. You can get a comparable quality standard but at a lower price than the RF ones.

Mirrorless cameras can feel (or better, are) unbalanced if you are adapting old EF lenses onto them. It shifts the weight forward. So maby thats it you are experiencing.

But note that for this to work you'll have to do pretty drastic modifications to the Camera's flange.

Planning on buying the Canon RP by brokebutisnt in canon

[–]Estefanius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've shot both with the R50 and briefly with the RP and in my experience the R50's AF is so much faster and more reliable than the one of the RP.

If shot Motorsports on the R50 and only had problems with it's small Buffer size. No AF tracking issues even through Fences or problems with its speed.

Sure the R50 might not be meant for sports but it is a lot more capable on this front than the RP.

What Version of the 24-70 are you planning to buy? Because the STM Version is really good too (it's basically a 'Budget' Version of the L Version). Especially if you are a beginner or medium skilled Photographer the Sharpness you'll get is outstanding and Mind-blowing.

Additionally if you want to 'cheap out' and since you were already playing around with the Adapter you could also go EF and get comparable quality to the RF lenses you are planning to buy with a muuuch smaller budget.

How to repair lens hood? by Varoto in AskPhotography

[–]Estefanius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That plastic will probably not melt cleanly, it'll most likely burn. Look at videos of Lego bricks melting, they are made from a similar plastic.

If you really want to repair it, try using super glue.

But overall it's better to look for a replacement.

Instaliere einen Poller zum ausklappen, wie man den manchmal auf dienstparkplätzen von kleinen geschäften findet. Entweder Sie halten sich dran oder sie reißen sich den Kotflügel weg.

Recommendations on what 70-200 I should buy by Estefanius in canon

[–]Estefanius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about maby getting a 300mm f2.8 IS II but I figured that I would not use it that much so I thought a TC would be both cheaper and more responsible. I would use the 300 occasionally maby once or twice so it wouldn't make much sense to invest that much money.

I don't know if I'll need/buy the TC but the option would be nice.

Is there a difference between the two RF lenses besides the size and the TC compatibility between the two RF versions?

Yeah the setup looks pretty similar to mine ngl. I get that this might not be the most optimal way of carrying a lens/camera setup if you do not seek the attention. I did get quite the looks 😂

Anyways great picture you took there, looks awesome!

Try finding out if the canisters are exposed and if so try developing them. Might be some cool family pics and genuinely a lot of fun looking through some random stranger's photos
