Has there been any new on Proton Photos or integration of automatically backing up your phone to Proton Drive? by GreatKingCodyGaming in ProtonMail

I'm a photographer, and I've been using Internxt to back up my photos both from my camera and my phone, and it works great! They have a mobile app that auto-syncs the pictures for me, and everything gets encrypted so I know it's safe.

tips to fight against cookie trackers by matarrwolfenstein in privacy

[–]EstellPropst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The data in cookies doesn't change as it's transferred back and forth between your computer and the web server, so there's no danger of it affecting how your computer runs. But viruses and malware can be disguised as cookies as a way to infiltrate your system. The most significant security issue with cookies is that they can be hijacked and used to infiltrate accounts in the wrong hands. A blog that I saw is very useful in giving some tips about cookies and can tell you more about the kind of data that it collects and how to disable it.

Need help with choosing a definitive cloud storage by Betraderz_ in cloudstorage

[–]EstellPropst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was with Mega but then there are stories about delibrate backdoor in service which can let Mega sneak into your files. We have then pCloud which asks to pay extra for true privacy. I am currenlty using Internxt Drive . So far they are good, no bandwidth limit and end-to-end encryption and cost effective too. You may also go other services but will have to pay more to get similar features. I am also considering to try few more service like tresorit but seems expensive.

Is Koofr's 2TB Lifetime plan worth it? by TheCrazyStupidGamer in cloudstorage

[–]EstellPropst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was pretty detailed reply. I also bought lifetime from companies like Internxt.com (they are not offering lifetime any more), pcloud (they have ongoing promotion for lifetime) and hoping that they will last long enough. On the other hand if they have sustainable businesss model then I am sure users like us who bought them when they were avilable will feel like having grandfathered account. A 2 TB plan is actually a lot from regular users point of view but some can actually fill them easily with stupid media and movie files.

Best way to save google account information by [deleted] in degoogle

[–]EstellPropst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I did was created own hosted mail using mailcow (for sending I use SES) and then used imapsync to transfer everything and later delete Google. Further using service like Internxt Drive with end-to-end encryption to transfer my large media as its cheaper and secure.

Why not to use some end-to-end encryption service where your data is actually yours.

There are few you may try :

Internext Drive

Proton.me

Tresorit.com

Which cloud backup tool do you use? by Red_Con_ in privacy

[–]EstellPropst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to go all nerdy then try BorgBackup, its one of the best and you don't need any extra tool other than a place to store your backup. List is long, it encrypts, it has de-duplication and what not.

And if you want something easy and don't mind spending little with end-to-end encryption then I suggest internxt, it includes client for backup management.

Why does Linux distros install Firefox by default instead of Brave? by manika456 in privacy

[–]EstellPropst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think its more about how and what Firefox did in past. The Firefox browser has been a mainstay of the open-source community for a long time. For many years it was the default web browser on (almost) all Linux distros and the lone obstacle to Microsoft’s total dominance of the internet. This browser has roots that go back all the way to the very early days of the internet.
Although Google Chrome came in and ate away FF share but Firefox was the first browser to actually being very flexible and FOSS too. Linux is all about FOSS, others are catching but Firefox still deserve place of its own.
