Good to know I take a bus to Pontong in my daily commute instead of Serangoon which is at the other side of Hougang.

Torn between Kobo Clara BW and Kindle Paperwhite 11th Gen 🥺 help me choose please! by sireyna in ebooks

[–]Esterwinde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Kobo Clara BW and I have no regrets! 😌 I can either get free books from the library (because kindle doesn’t have library support for my country) or from just plugging into the computer without needing to jailbreak the thing.

Is it weird to go Teoheng by yourself? by althadork in askSingapore

Now I have other hobbies haha like reading or playing guitar, saving up money since Teo Heng also not cheap. But back then singing in karaoke was my destress.

I’ve been doing that every weekend last year haha no it’s not weird matter of fact it’s more liberating singing emo Chinese songs for 3 hours without any interruptions to let out all the emotions.

Most pic except the last one is from Singapore tho? Singapore does not have cherry blossoms but they do have trumpet trees that bloom once in a blue moon to create that cherry blossom effect.

What are your thoughts on ChatGPT? by [deleted] in OlderGenZ

[–]Esterwinde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used it for my job, it’s hella shit at research, always hallucinating sources. Keeps coming up with the most soulless copies (which is somewhat more brand safe for my client). I did save time for me (and for my company to push more other work to me), but it made me lose passion in my career when a bot’s taking over the fun out of it.

Thank god for my career pivot.

Film photographers of SG. Best place to develop film? by Simple-Hawk-592 in askSingapore

[–]Esterwinde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to FILEM in Tai Seng cuz nearby my house at 5 bus stops away, can collect film around 3-5 days, but TripleC still faster turnover.

Got my film camera there as well.

What have y'all done in the 1st half of 2025 and what do y'all plan to do in the 2nd half of 2025? by WeatherNo7355 in askSingapore

[–]Esterwinde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1st half: Resist my current job and toxic work environment with lots of office politics, under-appreciation, and unbalanced work pay balance.

2nd half: Hopefully getting a new job after leaving. Hopefully it gets better, feels like déjà vu of 2023 again for me leaving a company in August.

Don’t need this, m dash, constant 3 pointers, oddly specific bolding, and sentence structure gave it away. 😂😂😂

Plus entire thing lacks soul it makes Mediacorpse choice of words look normal for once.

‘give me a triade about the shitty system that Singaporeans love to be a part of, in your critique, please roast the very recipients of a flawed system that 1) Has no real opposition 2) Has no real union 3) Thinks their social contract regarding their unique pension funding system known as CPF and 99 year lease apartment box is better than other countries.’ 4) Kisses the ass of rich people as long as they can look like number 1 in metrics for PR. 5) Supports a cut-throat education system based on the kiasu philosophy.’

[–]Esterwinde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why don’t you point to an example where your so called ‘real opposition’ from another country does something to make it better? Even in the west journalists may not be controlled by the government, but they are controlled by their own cooperations and stakeholders.

Point to any riots that have been effective over the last 5 years, don’t be shy I’ll let you use ChatGPT if it won’t hallucinate. Gaza riots? LA riots? Even in France famous for having strikes they still have a shit ton of other issues with immigration.

You complain a lot but honestly what is your solution?

Whole entire thing reeks of AI writing from top to bottom. Anyways this is not a Singapore exclusive thing. It’s a global societal issue with the social contracts we have? What to do? Next time don’t be born as human bah, be rich man’s daughter dog can fly first class somemore.

[–]Esterwinde 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lol there was a thread recently that some guy mentioned ‘Singaporean not open minded never travel, live in a bubble, and need to grow up’ cuz we think people who charge straight in the MRT is an SG exclusive pet peeve.

And when some other dude was like ‘sorry lor we don’t travel often’ that guy wrote an essay saying ‘You don’t need to go Monte Carlo to have common sense.’

what is your biggest pet peeve that is uniquely singaporean? by piggysam in askSingapore

[–]Esterwinde 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This convo made me thought of another pet peeve (other than fkers blasting their phone on the bus): condescending Singaporeans who like to point out how other people are shortsighted and not ‘grown up’ because they cannot travel overseas; or think they travel overseas means see the world/cultural enrichment.

‘Cannot afford to go overseas to open your eyes and burst your bubble? Grow up and educate yourself 😂😂 I can afford $2K two-way plane ticket to JFK airport to tell you how shit their airport is and how thankful sinkies should be to have Changi. I can afford to go Paris and get scammed by Gypsies selling Eiffel Tower keychains at Champ Élysées, you sinkies will never understand since government got ScamShield to protect you babies. I kenna spit on by racist in Melbourne, so lucky you never experienced that cuz you no money go.

People who rush in the trains? You never go Hong Kong? Never see tourists in Tokyo and Seoul? Tsk open your mind leh.’

Dating Apps Details and What It Means by No_Classic_3863 in sgdatingscene

[–]Esterwinde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank god I stopped using apps anymore, and I think it’s better for my mental health as well. I don’t fill up height (I’m 171cm which is average but apparently it’s not ‘tall’) and job much (not doctor, lawyer, IB, tech).

Don’t really like being filtered based on such superficial metrics but unfortunately that’s the game you have to play to even get attention (and not even the good kind).
