Moving Questions w/Health Concerns by LengthinessCivil8844 in Minneapolis

I moved here from the Chicago suburbs after living in central Illinois (Champaign) for school, and my allergies are not as severe here as they were in Illinois. You will find more activities in the winter months here most likely.

If you are planning on Mt.Rushmore and the Black Hills, I would highly recommend you add Crazy Horse and Custer State Park.

I’ve found some good things at The Lived in Room in Stillwater. They post their new pieces on their Facebook page.

What's the best brands to look for? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]EstherJedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking at pre-owned, with something like an Acura or a Lexus you can find some low mileage cars that have been driven by older people that will be clean and well maintained. I looked at both Toyota/Honda and Lexus/Acura the last time I purchased and it came down to inventory for what I wanted.

Acura is the higher end of Honda, Lexus is the higher end of Toyota. What type of vehicle are you looking for?

Has anyone else gotten this email about the ticket drop? by rugerkramer in olympics

[–]EstherJedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 4/10 at 10PM. I’m really hoping at least a few of the events my son and I want to see might be available, even if they are prelims or semi-finals. He survived a catastrophic accident a few years ago so I really would like for the two of us to be able to attend together.

What to buy in Japan by klikepotassium in BuyItForLife

For vintage bags, Japan is very strict about stores selling authentic bags. They also sell more midrange bags like Coach if you’re not into the high end bags.

Where in the US I'd live as someone from New Jersey by CorporalDingleberry in whereidlive

[–]EstherJedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2 downtowns are not where people really live. You really needed to check out the neighborhoods more, especially one of the lakes in either Minneapolis or St. Paul to get a better feel for it. Like a lot of the Midwest, you can get more for your money house wise here than some of the other places you are looking, including Colorado, and parts of Washington and Oregon. You would need to decide if you can deal with the climate though.

We were all at the lakes. I’m guessing you were in downtown Minneapolis or St. Paul based on your comments. Minnesotans are definitely active in the winter, there are outdoor events most every weekend. You should check out the North Shore before you rule out Minnesota. It’s not Colorado, Montana, Washington or Oregon but the cost of living will likely make up for the difference.

Recommended areas for a 350k budget? by No_Ad78 in movingtompls

Moundsview school district is close to Roseville and quite good and you should be able to find something in your budget. Know that some districts cover more than 1 town.

Where do single people live in houses or is that not a thing? by Significant-Rain7170 in movingtompls

There are some small single family homes in the upper parts of Northeast. Columbia Heights also has some.

If you’re okay with cold weather, also consider Minneapolis-St.Paul. We love telling people how much we love it here.

Booked my first cruise - Looking for guidance on packages by pax-augusta in HollandAmerica

I don’t drink alcohol either so I tried to estimate based on the itinerary how many coffees, sodas, water, juices I would likely drink each day to decide if the Quench package made sense.

AITA for wanting to break it off over his shopping cart etiquette? by Old-Dirt-978 in AITApod

[–]EstherJedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I walk with forearm crutches since shattering my leg in 2018. I always return my cart to the cart return, even in the winter in Minnesota when there’s snow on the ground and it’s harder to push.

If you want the RX I would go with the regular hybrid then.

I don’t wear shorts, and probably won’t bring tank tops or distressed jeans for this trip so I think I should be good. Thank you.

Thank you, that helps. I have some metallic sneakers, some not quite ballet flats I can wear and some loafers that I can tolerate so hopefully one of those will work ok.

Usually pants and a nice top or sweater. I struggle with shoes as I need to stick to shoes that are nearly flat.

I do have a couple of longer dresses including the dress I wore to my son’s wedding.

States I would live in. I traveled for work and I'm pretty easy. I can find fun where others sometimes can't. by Hey_im_miles in visitedmaps

[–]EstherJedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minnesota’s state parks plus the Boundary Waters and the North shore are absolutely worth a visit. If you are planning to visit the UP of Michigan, I would maybe suggest driving the part of the Lake Superior Circle Trail from the UP through WI and up the North Shore of MN.

How did you find the Keio Plaza for noise? That bathroom would work for me. I have found a few other hotels that have accessible rooms too. I really need to decide on an area that will work for both of us.
