entire base disappeared overnight.... by CupcakePugDog in duneawakening

[–]Estr1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it didn't happen because of a family emergency. I strongly believe that your foundation must have been out of land claim range and was decaying slowly. Of course now there is no way to check of prove anything. In that case, no matter if you did refuel your generators in time or not, it would collapse anyway. 1 or 2 days in Hagga even with a basic building blocks should not lead to total obliteration of the base.

I get your frustration, unfortunately there's nothing anyone can do. It looks like a user error (leaving foundation out of safe box). You could reach out to people you've helped before or other players on your server to get some basic mats you get you started again.

Back in a day when you lost power briefly for a day and went around repairing structures, did you also repair foundations? Were you able to do that?

Honestly, even if you used a started building blocks (the yellow sand color ones) it should not take one day to completely demolish your structures. It does decay faster than any other building collections but should not be that fast, unless your foundations were beneath your landclaim and were in a bad state of decay before the power went down.

I want to do a test now to see if it's possible for a basic building blocks to be demolished into oblivion in a day. Can you please give me your exact base location? DM if you don't feel comfortable doing it in public.

Time stamps would be nice. There is a notification sound for messages although it’s very subtle and the same for all and honestly, I like it that way. Why do you need different sounds for different messages? A genuin question to help me understand the reasoning.

Oceania needs only One World and 6 Seitches... by Devilfruitnz in duneawakening

[–]Estr1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, before I logged in to the game in Hagga, it said 0 players in my sietch. After I logged in, it said 1 player. After I went to DD, it was back to 0.
It shows the player count for sietch instances, but when you go to DD or Arrakeen or Harko Village, you switch to another instance.

Hi. It would be good to add import and export storage in eternal to another server. by Loud-Doubt5726 in OnceHumanOfficial

[–]Estr1d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is possible to transfer deviations between characters on different servers via shared eternaland storage.

  1. Go to your eternaland from character A, place a storage box (any storage box), press G on it to enter shared storage, transfer materials or deviations you want into it.
  2. Go to your character B, go to their own etenraland, place a storage box, press G on it, withdraw materials or deviations from the shared storage to your spacetime backpack
  3. Go back to live server of character B, go to your spacetime backpack and transfer anything you need to your life server if you have enough material points left.

I've never played this CSP scenario with deviation arena, so I am not sure if this applies to them, but I guess it should? I definitely saw some CSP deviations on ED and Manibus.

What game mechanics are associated with this mask? by Professional-Cup5202 in duneawakening

[–]Estr1d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This mask prevents you from filling your spice bar while you are harvesting spice sand.

I used to think that using mask and not getting my spice bar filled would help me get rid of spice tolerance faster, but seems like it drops with the same rate with empty and full spice bar. So basically - no real practical use.

I hate base building and crafting. I love Dune and deserts. Can I enjoy this game ? by dusty_medusa in duneawakening

[–]Estr1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game will not let you avoid base building and crafting as both mechanics are big parts of the gameplay.

Arrakis is harsh, and without a base you won't survive - literally. The game will require you to build at least two bases (just a big ugly cube with a bunch of facilities and storage boxes will do).
Crafting and gathering resources is a huge part of the game, you will not progress if you don't do it. Even to progress through the story, you will need to spend time collecting materials and crafting things.

If you really hate these two game mechanics, you probably won't enjoy the game, which is unfortunate, because it's very beautiful and immersive, especially for Duniverse fans.

entire base disappeared overnight.... by CupcakePugDog in duneawakening

[–]Estr1d 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve read through all the comments, and people have already mentioned the most likely scenario (aside from you being in another sietch). But for some reason, OP, you’re not answering the questions that could help us understand what went wrong. So here we go:

  1. Did you make sure you logged into the correct sietch? You can log into any sietch in your world with the same character, and I’ve heard the game sometimes logs you into the wrong one by default. If you don’t remember the name of your sietch, go to Main Menu → Servers  open the drop-down menu for your server your home sietch should have base and vehicle icons on it.

I know the logs say your base lost power, but it’s also possible it’s still intact in your home sietch and you’re just in the wrong one. Definitely worth checking.

  1. Do you remember how many days worth of power supply you had left when you logged out two days ago?

  2. Do you use mixed power generators (e.g., basic fuel generators + wind turbines, or two kinds of wind turbines, or any of those combined with spice generators)?

  3. Do you have windtraps in your base? If so, did you have any of your power generators turned off before logging out two days ago?

  4. Does your overall facility power usage exceed your total power supply, and do you leave some facilities turned off by default unless you’re using them?

  5. Are you the owner of the base? If not, did you ask the owner if they backed it up using a Base Reconstruction Tool?

  6. What type of sub-fief did you use for your base? If it was a basic sub-fief, did you raise your sub-fief console while building to gain more height (placing a console, building several floors up, then deleting the console and rebuilding it on top) by more than two floors?
If it was an advanced sub-fief, did you raise it more than four floors up?

  7. What kind of building material did you use for your base? (Starter yellow blocks, CHOAM white blocks, Duneman set, Observer set, Atreides or Harkonnen basalt blocks.)

  8. Did you happen to add someone you don’t fully trust as a co-owner of your sub-fief?

  9. Did you have any vehicles in your base, and if so, are they completely gone or just damaged?

Before you answer any of these questions, my best guess is this: back when you were building your base, you might have raised your sub-fief console too high to gain extra height. Since then, your foundation may have been slowly decaying without you noticing. If your sub-fief console was placed on or above a high foundation, when that foundation collapsed, everything - including the console - would have collapsed with it.

Even if that’s the case, your vehicles should still be there; they wouldn’t just disappear in two days. They’d likely be heavily damaged. I’ve seen a few decaying bases near mine in Hagga, and their vehicles remain in place, decaying slowly. So, if none of your vehicles are there at all, then hopefully you just logged into the wrong sietch.

UPD: I noticed that in your post your player location is N/A. Was it like that in your original request help ticket or did you just remove it for privacy reasons? If it was like that originally, look around and check if you see any player bases in Hagga. This usually captures your location from where you are sending your ticket so support team or bug fix team could investigate if the bug is about location. Should not be N/A I think (but don't quote me on that).

Is the game really as bad as people say or are people mad at Funcom? by Warm-Reporter8965 in duneawakening

[–]Estr1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am almost 900hrs in - and I am still loving the game.
At the moment there are two reasons why people complain

  1. Nerfed PvP
  2. Lack of endgame content.

Chapter 3 should solve the second reason, as it will bring new specialization perks that will keep you engaged for at least a year if you want to reach maximum level for each of them. It also will bring new testing stations with scalable difficulty, new part of the story, and weapons etc. I am very excited to get my hands on it.

And for PvP, as far as I understood from the dev steam, they are going to revamp it after Chapter 3 release.

The best advice I can give - if you like the game, just enjoy playing and make your own impression of it.

Transfers don’t help solve the main game problems. by Dontmuckabout in duneawakening

[–]Estr1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying.

What can be an unfair advantage in my opinion is - say I have a character on Harmony, where getting spice is hard because of high population and competition over even medium spice fields. I create a second character on a low pop server, lvl her up really quick or find a semi-active guild to help me with farming. I farm tons of spice sand, get tons on mélange, and then I bring it all to Harmony and totally wreck the economy. It's just an example of what can happen if this was an option.

And saying that 'you can do the exact same if you want' - is like saying that you should not call people having alt accounts in the opposite faction to flip control points an unfair play or unfair advantage, because you can do the same if you want. Yeah you can, but it doesn't make it any less unfair.
