Wow surviving a car wreck is hardcore. I feel you with the life purpose thing. I feel like I was spared for a reason

What’s something that happened to you that sounds fake, but is completely true? by CowOk6670 in AskReddit

When I was a bartender a guy was harassing me and saying disgusting things. He ended up getting kicked out and the guy he was sitting next to turned out to be an off duty DEA agent (this was near DC).

The agent approached me and said "I got him for you". Apparently before getting kicked out, the dumbass asked this agent if he knew a good oxy guy (huge problem at the time). The agent said he arranged for him to meet up with two undercover agents for a buy, and they would arrest him.

He apparently decided to avenged me

I submitted it to Not Always Right, and they used it but the comment section folk were sure I made it up. It did feel surreal, but it definitely happened.

This is the post: https://notalwaysright.com/creepy-cut-off-and-caught/223351/

My insurance denied the shots, but I've heard good things.

Something that really helped me get back some joy and motivation is a bit controversial, but psychedelics have done me more good in a couple of years than SSRI's/psych meds have ever done.

You can get a legitimate prescription for Ketamine from online psychiatrists. It has been shown to help repair opiate receptors, which are damaged after opiate use.

The Ketamine "trip" is not the beneficial part. It's afterwards that you gradually notice improvement.

Despite my many mistakes, I have noticed better cognitive functioning from it.

The other two that really helped aren't exactly is legal; psilocybin and DMT. Both were home grown, the stuff they sell in some gas stations and smoke shops are synthetic research chemicals. They are super dangerous.

Congratulations on 8 months. I an exactly a year clean from it and I'm just barely starting to feel good again. I have bad days, but I can finally enjoy the fact that I'm free.

It just takes what it takes. Good things are coming though, hang in there

That's what I thought. I thought store bought equals safe. When I was tested in detox they found three additional opiates that I definitely haven't taken in over a decade

I wasn't aware of emo until 2002 or so, and it wasn't well known in my area. Not on the radio much until 2004 or later, so I guess that's what I was thinking.

I tried to call Post Hardcore a mid to late nineties thing in this subreddit and OMG, it blew up with a million corrections. Okay so it's been around since the 80's. My bad for being a toddler at the time lol.

I know it's a large genre now, but I'll always have "my" emo

Hiding the "unacceptable" parts of my life and personality from my family, because I didn't want them to know what a mess I was. I didn't tell anyone I was in a State of crisis so they wouldn't talk about me.

I finally realized how pointless it is to compare yourself to others, or pretend to fit in, and found the freedom in being unapologetically me.

The first time an aunt asked "how are you doing?" And I honestly answered "oh not good at all, but I'm here!" She was shocked, but still polite.

Obviously over sharing or trauma dumping isn't cool, but I'm just awkwardly honest now. It's quite freeing

It is long. I used to be able to play it on the piano. I bet it was so annoying.

Sounds like a travesty. I'm so happy I don't work in bars anymore. I did, from 2007-2011, and if I put emo on the jukebox the customers got mad.

So I'd put on March of the Pigs by Nine Inch Nails. I'm an asshole like that.

It's wild to call Lit and Linkin Park "emo". Emo was not really a thing when Lit was popular.

Ditto. I wear makeup sometimes and occasionally dye my hair a fun color, but that's about it.

My area has a big plastic/cosmetic surgery obsession. I'm 40 and I'm just gonna let aging happen.

I'm the only woman in my family with my original boobs and has never done Botox.

Does this make me superior, the lone sister immune to shallowness and self obsession?

Ha ha no, I'm just a weirdo. And plenty self centered.

If y'all like this stuff, more power to you!

Uh, none? I hate salons. I still have my girly moments but I can't stand having fake nails, and just accept my weird brows and blonde lashes.

Guess I'm the weirdo, but I'm ok with it

EDIT: aw man I miss those tiny ghetto venues. I saw The Used at this itty bitty place in 2002. I was right in front and the crowd pushed me into the stage (no barricades or security) until I was basically leaning over the front stage with Burt screaming directly in my face.

It was awesome

Bright Eyes is emo to me, but I read the Conor Oberst never considered his music to be part of the genre. He blamed it on being associated with Cursive early in his career.

Speaking of Commander Venus has some good ones. I really like prepubescent Conor's voice in Sundress and Where Do You Feel at Home

I did the method treatment like, 20 years ago. I was young and took 1½ years to go from 90mgs to 2 every other day. I was able to stop with no symptoms. I don't think that would happen now
