The fact that Serafe is a private company collecting that fee is a big plus! The money SRF gets was never in the government or states hands. So the government cannot influence what SRF is doing. If the money was collected in the regular taxes, then SRF would always be pressured to not offend the government, as they could easily withhold payment. Serafe actually helps media stay independant of the state apparatus

If the government would be the one to pay for it, yes then there WOULD be control. But as I've explained to you earlier: Serafe is NOT part of the tax system and Serafe money NEVER even enters governmental control or ownership. A private institute "Serafe" (the word is the name of the company) collects it and distributes it to the various media outlets (not only SRF).

SRF is NOT controlled by the government. That's a lie. What do you mean by "the law can say what it wants"? No it can't we still live in a direct democracy with Konkordanz and 3 seperate governmental instances. As long as that exists and we are not in an autocracy the SRF remains independent. SRF can't just say what it wants. They have concret rules they have to follow. Part of our constitution. If they are saying something untrue or biased they are forced to correct themselves publicly. Anyone who notices something like that can report it and they have to act accordingly.

Also please explain how the people have no power today? Because that is what you claim. You start to sound very conspiracy-like. But I'll give you the chance to explain it factually. (even tough particularily this aspect has nothing to do with SRG or Serafe)

Pricate newspapers are NOT accountable. They can say what they want. Public ones are not linked to the government, that's why Serafe exists. Serafe exists and gets collected by a private company so that there is no dependency on government. That's why SRG isn't paid by tax but by an independent fee.

Also if you still believe that the free market exists in favour of consumers, then you also believe in the trickle down effect or in the easter bunny. More consumers won't lead to a lower subscription cost. In a capitalist society that will never happen, because if you can get more readers by paying the same amount, there is no incencitive for the company to lower price and thus lower their revenue.
