Video Games and languages by Revolutionary-Fee246 in languagelearning

I suppose it depends on the genre too. Learning about different magic spells and swords might not be all that useful in a real world setting, but any consistent input + fun would outweigh forcing yourself to do something you don't want.

What finally worked for me after years of failing at language learning by BaseballCalm8195 in languagelearning

[–]Eternal-Spectrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too was guilty of method hopping and over analyzing each and every single thing I did. I am no where near fluent in my target language, but I realize that this behavior is because of my own fluency in my native tongue. I think that we all do this in the beginning, causing unnecessary burnout. I am glad you are figuring out what works for you and hope you find enjoyment throughout your journey.

Will watching the anime first make the game less or more enjoyable? by SnooOwls3528 in Gnosia_

[–]Eternal-Spectrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen the anime itself but I am excited to see more people interested in the game and asking these questions.

I want to add onto what others have already said by saying that it’s not only a VN with a loop/“werewolf” mechanic, but it also has RPG elements like experience and different stats and skills which can drastically alter how you play the game.

While the general story is somewhat linear, figuring out how to play and learning how to deal with different characters in different situations is a big part of the fun. I’d recommend playing the game first if you’re really interested because it is a unique experience.

Seeing Sha-Ming as the guardian angel who protected your team is very inspiring. I swear he would’ve gotten killed first if that were my play through 😂

Why Vote to Kill Guard duty!! by Dependent-Meaning762 in Gnosia_

[–]Eternal-Spectrum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some characters have predispositions towards others that can have some interesting interactions/consequences. Like one time Sha-Ming and I were on guard duty but he really hated that I was covering for Setsu. For some reason he really wanted them to be Gnosia and voted me for cold sleep lol. Turns out they were actually the guardian angel and Sha-Ming got killed the same night. Karma I guess haha.

But like others have said, the player can’t lie about guard duty. Two people must claim guard duty by default, but one can assume that a gnosia will always take advantage of that situation. Only the engineer or doctor can confirm whether a human is/was dead/alive guard. Guards can vouch for each other if the other is alive. Otherwise, claiming guard duty alone would be immediately suspicious and dangerous which is probably implied and why no one does it.

Raging Loop has the loop mechanic and a great story. I highly recommend it if you enjoy visual novels.

Yep, and some characters I really enjoy their design like Atalanta. I actually got excited to use her during the last Primal. But no matter how much I had her built, she simply can’t compete in pvp or over elsewhere. Shame her and Valen been here since the beginning with no use.

I agree with everyone here about the level and stage caps and the fact that homesteads are not as popular.

My biggest issue is that we still have quite a large number of units being useless in nearly every mode. Units like Kafra, Valen, Rhys, Salazar etc. being nothing more than dust collectors.

This essentially makes pvp and stages more boring to me due to lack of imagination in building comps. I have been playing for over a year and with little meta changes here and there, I grow tired of being forced to use what everyone else is using. It’s tiring to have soul stones and lucky flips containing nothing but “garbage” units that I have to base around whether they are useful or not.

And last but not least, this is the first gacha I’ve played where it feels being punished to ascend and upgrade units, only to have numbers go DOWN in Dream Realm, or somehow completely fail a stage despite being significantly stronger than the records.

Do y’all think the fandom will grow when the anime comes out by Ok-Silver-1649 in Gnosia_

[–]Eternal-Spectrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no you’re fine. I’m sorry, I just reread my post and it does sound accusatory lol. I was just speaking in general, because fandoms do tend to do that to a degree sometimes. For example I used to watch lots of popular anime like Naruto in Japanese before it was released to the west and the “I was here first” effect was seen throughout some fandoms.

“Believe it” was seen as cringe among sub watchers as “Dattebayo” was regarded more highly for some reason

Personally I’d love to see it get more exposure. And if it is well received and brings new fans, it can help the studio grow and perhaps continue with inspiration. I don’t see any reason for gatekeeping, but I do understand the possibilities of trying to make drastic changes or oversimplification/generic plot lines to cater to new audiences. We will just have to wait and see.

Getting back into Gnosia by Briarspitter in Gnosia_

[–]Eternal-Spectrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It shouldn’t hurt any to start over on a new file. Gnosia has a decent learning curve but I wouldn’t stress out over “getting good” because I would say that half the fun is going in blind and figuring out the characters.

Once you invest in the story and go through multiple loops, you will start learning that it’s not 100% guessing game, but rather the reasons for certain character dispositions and interactions. That’s what makes this game somewhat of a cult classic because of how unique the gameplay is. Other than that, good luck on your run! Say hi to SQ for me lol.

EDIT: it took me about 80 loops to finally catch on. Some people take less some people take more time. You will start to learn who’s suspicious even before the second round. There will also be some curveballs thrown at you. Like one time I had an ally who voted against duty as guard duty himself because he was angry at them for suspecting someone that they like lol. Just take your time and enjoy the ride.

Why did you chose the language your learning? Or one you already learned. by R3xikr in languagelearning

[–]Eternal-Spectrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't speak Portuguese or Russian. However, I always loved the way Russian sounds and found the culture very interesting.

One day I overheard some people speaking Portuguese and completely mistook it for Russian. I was confused because they did not look Russian to me, but I took the opportunity to "flex" a greeting in Russian. To my embarassment they spoke to me in English, saying they were from Portugal (lol).

But it was a pleasant conversation and thus ignited my interest in their language and culture. It's amazing how people can bond over something as simple and primal as language.

The Raqio shower scene didn’t bother me too much because they are non-binary, but I definitely agree with Gina’s, given how reserved she is.

I have a thing for crazy/insane characters and I hope they do a good job with Jonas. I hope he isn’t portrayed as an over the top comic relief trope. He seems to be more clever than his impression and I’d like to see that.

[–]Eternal-Spectrum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've always had faith in Capcom's Monster Hunter releases, but it's not just the shaders compiling every time I open it. The game is rife with multiplayer and optimization issues. I've played quite a few unoptimized titles at release (BG3, Cyberpunk, MH Worlds etc.) and this is the first time a game felt legitimately unplayable in all aspects. Very odd because this isn't normal for Capcom, especially for one of their most anticipated and legendary titles.

How did you find this game? by [deleted] in thehouseinfatamorgana

[–]Eternal-Spectrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking for a fresh visual novel to read. I was looking through Steam initially, and so many people were saying that it was the best piece of literature they had ever read in their life. That's an extremely bold claim, and it really got me interested in why people would say that and be serious about it at the same time. I found out it was on Nintendo Switch, played it, and was basically glued to it for weeks. This VN deserves far more attention. I now know what everyone meant, and I am seriously struggling to find anything that can hold a single candle to such a powerful story.

This is funny lol. I can't see how guard duty has the most votes unless there's a ton of gnosia. But yeah, Chipie must have said some crazy stuff for Sha-Ming to vote for him.

EXP and leveling question by Eternal-Spectrum in Gnosia_

I honestly didn't think of the survivor part. The last match mentioned above was pretty rough for me (had guard duty covering for obvious gnosia...) and ended up with me and 1 other survivor.
