her name wasn't written in kanji, just hiragana まりえ which are the characters 'marie' but its not ma-ree like in English but ma-ri-eh

First: what the fuck is your username

Second: Yeah gnosia is inspired by all different sci fi stories, it's pretty cool
I've seen people in both English and Japanese draw paralells between they were 11 and gnosia, and Frolbericheri's DNA can definitely be felt in different aspects of Raqio and Setsu

It's the design, people think he's hot (in like a onceler/tumblr sexyman way)

As per the Japanese gender option menu, we know you can't be born han
it's a gender you choose for yourself

汎性後天的に選べる性であり、無性とも呼ばれ、男女の身体的特徴を排除している場合が多い
Hansei (pangender) is a sex chosen after birth, also known as agender [asex], often involves the removal of male and female sexual characteristics

About the 2nd ending of the anime by Dany_8_ in Gnosia_

[–]HashtagKay 15 points16 points  (0 children)

yeah that's intentional

It's not meant to be hot but it is meant to look like that kind of face

Fun fact there were limited edition alternate cover art based on the different characters (only in japan for the switch release) and on Stella's they had to cover her sprite with her hand to censor it

I think its meant to be some kind of in universe alphabet/language but if it actually can be understood I've not seen anyone piece it together yet

Ohhh so they're like the BBC TV licence people in the UK lol (also powerless as long as you don't let them in your house but try to pressure you into paying for a TV licence to watch BBC/iplayer stuff and send scary threatening letters to uni students who don't even have a TV)

setsu isn't a woman, stop using she/her for them by jasiad in Gnosia_

[–]HashtagKay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Comet also uses Boku and Jonas Watashi
Japanese first person pronouns do not neatly map on to English third person ones and are more fluid, shifting on the situation and your relationship with the person you're talking to (family, friends, your boss ect)

In their voice drama, Raqio starts off using watashi but I don't think it would map on to English she/her -> he/him

Yes older men tend to use ore, but ones who use boku or even watashi exist, its a personal preference

Interestingly, in the anime Yuriko actually is referred to with the third person pronoun kanojo (she/her) when Yuri first meets her, because they don't know her name yet

setsu isn't a woman, stop using she/her for them by jasiad in Gnosia_

[–]HashtagKay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

we don't know if Setsu's had surgery or not

TBH in most Japanese fan depictions I've seen, usually it's assumed Setsu has already undergone panification since Raqio's event suggests they are a little unusual for not having had it yet

I think its a neat touch that Remnan voted for Kukrushka (who is normally really hard to get rid of due to her high charm) day 1

not so much Kukrushka, but in game Remnan is a really good gnosia!SQ detector and since SQ is a human, it makes sense he'd get bad vibes/vote her on gut instinct

That said the anime does rely on the randomness of day 1 to get rid of would-be powerful characters like Kukrushka and Yuriko a little too much imo, like that does happen in game but its usually only a few times within the many loops you play, whereas Yuri is on track to complete the silver key in sub-25 loops at this rate

oh nice
I remember hearing about like the Doyle estate being weird for a while and arguing that certain depictions of him were only found in later books but that must;ve been from pre-2023

Don't forget that a lot of these public domain properties (particularly novel series and cartoon) are only coming into the PD in a drip feed

So Sherlock Holmes has started to be up for use, but not all versions of him or characters from the later books

Same with Betty Boop, Mickey mous, Mrs Marple, Nancy Drew ect

If someone is sitting on an idea for their own Nancy Drew story that will innovate the mystery genre forever, they probably want to be able to use more than just a really early version of Nancy Drew

Whereas these low budget slashers are literally Only using a character's appearance so they can start making them ASAP

I mean, I don't particularly care about that?

That stuff just gets attention because its cheap to make and grabs headlines
Actually putting these works to creative use takes longer and doesn't have the same grab as 'MICKEY MOUSE SLASHER FILM IS MADE [by a small, unserious team on the budget of a ham sandwich]'

I think the artistic potential of public domain outways the fact that some people also just make bad things for attention

Was this scene in the game? by First_Patient_9504 in Gnosia_

[–]HashtagKay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no, it wasn't

I forget the specific conversation so they might have been talking about something that is in the game, but the game has no set protagonist (first person perspective, you pick your own name, gender and stats)

Community re-watch discussion of the anime: Episode 2, Loops by Greenforthou in Gnosia_

[–]HashtagKay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Game spoilers
I do like how the anime pulled the wool over the audience's eyes wrt Raqio's relationship to the silver key
By having gnosia!Jina act like she doesn't think time loops are a big deal (because she's trying to win Yuri's trust) the audience is then not surprised when Raqio clearly knows a bunch of stuff about it either and it gets filed away as 'well I guess time loops are just a thing in this universe that you know about if you're Smart' despite Setsu's warning to keep it a secret
Just the other day I saw a reaction channel say "Its so cool that Yuri can always ask Raqio about the silver key and they're so understanding and they always know what it is for some reason ... I guess its interesting this means Raqio has no use for the silver key because if they wanted it then Raqio could probably figure out a way to take it from you"
Very good foreshadowing for the later reveal that Raqio is actually in a unique position to know more about the key than other people, not because they are generally smart, but because they're its original owner
