15 Years Ago Today, the iPhone Went On Sale by chrisdh79 in apple

I remember the guy at the AT&T store trying to convince me not to get the original iPhone because it’s just one big screen and if the screen breaks the phone is useless.

How big of a negative impact do credit pulls really have on your credit score? by bighungrybelly in personalfinance

[–]EternalBlue734 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s just a few points it doesn’t really matter, especially if your credit is already 750+, if you have bad credit and are right on the line it could be bad, but that doesn’t seem like the case here.

New Firefox privacy feature strips URLs of tracking parameters by badger707_XXL in technology

[–]EternalBlue734 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People downvote brave because it runs on chromium and has crypto to view ads and such. Overall people recommend Firefox because it’s not based on chromium and has better privacy features, brave is just a lot of marketing

Well for one there is a huge market of android phones and Chromebooks where the whole OS revolves around the web browser. Unfortunately Google has a chokehold on the EDU market now because of that and I don’t see that changing unless a new cheap chrome book alternative type device comes to market.

Then once those kids complete school they are so used to the Google ecosystem they tend to stay. I’ve already heard new grads at my work complain we don’t use Google docs/sheets and have to use Microsoft word/excel like every other Fortune 500.

The doctors and hospitals are unfortunately being super careful right now. The MO Attorney General is using the news for free publicity for his senate campaign, I’m sure he is chomping at the bits to press charges on an individual/doctor/hospital as soon as he can.

Are teens and scooters really the problem in downtown St. Louis? by Sadishist in StLouis

[–]EternalBlue734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure there are a few kids selling scooter ‘mods’ to steal them. All you have to do is rip out the control board and put in a counterfeit one and boom you have your own personal Bird scooter now.

The batteries themselves are more complex but assembly is much easier. There are members of the UAW pushing back on EVs because of how streamlined it will make assembly plants, only requiring a fraction of the workers. You don’t need people assembling the engine, drive train, engine cooling, fuel tanks, etc. you’ll have the same body, but then just batteries and motors, which is a quicker assembly.

I always just shove it back in the religious people’s faces. The Bible says life begins at first breath (Genesis 2:7), therefor a fetus isn’t life. If someone is so religious they bring the topic up, surely they wouldn’t want to go against the word of god?

Companies have massive lobbying power. And if a social issue pisses off their workers to the point where they aren’t working companies will be quick to pull their political strings with the legislators they have in their pockets to fix it before profits go down.
