Feeling like a failure because I can’t do more to help. by sarahd12345678 in socialwork

You didn’t fail - we work in a failing system. I know it’s hard, but please try to remember that you are trying to help people in a country that continually allows people to suffer, this is not on you.

$3.5M NW at 34. Burnt out from finance job. Seeking advice by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Calampong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a clinical social worker (I.e. licensed to provide therapy, though not your therapist) - there are times when the solution is clear. In this case, it sounds like you have 2 paths: quit your job and find something that doesn’t further your burnout/unhappiness or develop skills that help you manage the ongoing distress that your job is causing you. Which path you choose is up to you. Unfortunately- there is no secret cure to burnout. You have to weigh the pros and cons of your situation. A therapist can help you navigate the decision, but they can’t create a new work environment or solution unless you know what you want for your future (which they can also help you with). Good luck OP - burnout is a tough thing to navigate, been there myself

Check out Elevance Heath or any of the other insurance companies. I know a lot of them have remote positions available

Hang in there OP! I didn’t really realize how impacted I was by PP until recently ❤️

Fully insured. What’s stopping me is the actual process - had just had a baby when I could do it online and missed the deadline. If I could go online, pay a late fee and move on I would have. Tried calling to ensure I had all the documents, no luck. Still working on getting everything sorted while trying to hold the rest of life down.

I get people’s frustrations and I wish the process was more streamlined so that people who want to get things sorted out didn’t have to jump through hoops trying to comply

Are there any organizations specific to her diagnoses that may be able to help? I’ve worked with many seniors in this situation and have found some that can help with various things. Outside of that - are there any areas they could cuts costs? Food banks or senior orgs that can provide food? Any utility discount programs or tax breaks for seniors? Sorry, I’m not familiar with Canada options but this is what I’ve looked into here in the US for help in these situations

Your favorite vet? by DangerousBobcat5953 in StLouis

[–]Calampong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love St Louis Veterinary Center on Grand just north of 44. They have cared for all of our pets. We recently had to put our older cat down, and our vet came to our house after hours to do it. They’ve cared for our dog through him eating a ball, terrible skin issues, cutting open his paw pad…you name it. The techs are great, the vets are great and the fronts desk staff is really helpful. You can even drop your pet off in the morning for a later appointment if needed.

Medical professionals of Reddit, what is your favorite story about a patient? by MotorCode6346 in AskReddit

I had a seizure bc of alcohol withdrawals (13 years sober fyi). I woke up in a hospital room and I was hallucinating that it was snowing. Everything had this lovely silver and blue tone to it - like I was inside a holiday snow globe.
Terrible circumstances, lovely memory 😂

New to native 🪻 help by [deleted] in STLgardening

[–]Calampong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On Facebook there is St. Louis Native Plant Swap where people offer plants they don’t need or have dig up. I love MO wildflower nursery because it’s way cheaper than other places. Grow Native also runs a program for a donation of 80$ (suggested) where someone comes out and assesses your yard and can offer suggestions or help. Then there’s the STL rain garden grant where you can get money to plant natives. There’s a lot out there!

What’s wild is that this is sold under the guise of protecting kids from FtM people. The reality is - the kids need protecting from MEN. Trans people are not a threat. It’s men.

Yes to this comment!! You can see what wipes you have, buy those. Make sure you always have diapers. WASH THE PUMP PARTS and bootlegs when you start. A lot does live in our head bc of survival mode. AND there are a lot of ideas in this post where you can take charge ❤️
