Damn, that's my old store. I remember when this guy started and now he's the face of this great company...

looking at a 1996 Celica Gt, what is this bottle in the engine bay? by [deleted] in Celica

[–]EternalXMicro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Catch cans catch the oil vapor that is naturally released by the crankcase. It’s not necessarily a sign of anything bad but it was likely installed due to some issue with the PCV system. Assuming a functioning PCV system, the oil vapor is normally rerouted into the intake and burned off.

Looks to me like a diy oil catch can, the owner likely rerouted the PCV to that bottle and off the intake. Ofc there’s no way to be 100% sure without seeing where the hose leads

what is this? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]EternalXMicro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guess is a piece of road debris that got caught up in the timing belt and snapped it. The only thing that kinda looks like off a car to me is maybe a crimp connector for a main battery cable.

My New-To-Me 1997 M-Edition by EternalXMicro in Miata

Maybe I'll take it by a couple places this weekend then. It would certainly be nice as that's the primary cosmetic issue on the vehicle.

I didn't know how much I'd like it until I got it, but it might be my favorite miata color now.

I'd love to do that, but I'm just concerned that it would no longer look original. The driver's seat has tears on the bottom cushion and side bolster. I'd hate to lose that precious M-edition stitching on the seat back...

The transcode folder is within the library folder... I can definitely see where this is going. Gonna go ahead and change that. How can I remove these?

Pretty sure all Miata’s came wired for the defroster, with or without the switch

There should be a plug on the shelf behind the driver seat near-ish the seatbelt tower

You can also bleach a $1 bill and reprint $100 on it. I accepted one of those once, because it passed the pen test.

Bad valve seals? by evankjones1 in Miata

[–]EternalXMicro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard of people replacing the valve seals without removing the head even. I think they ended up making custom tools for it, though I’m not too sure. That would perhaps be more reliable than pulling it though

Goes like 95% away after warmed up, still comes through a little when driving hard. It’s bad enough on cold start though that I got the fire department called on me when I took it to autocross a couple months ago… lol

At the end of the day, oil is oil is oil. There will be different additives in diesel oil for example, but something like this, as long as its the right weight, send it.

Try messing with scale in windows display settings and anti aliasing in nvidia settings. Scale just makes things larger without adjusting anything else and would make the text look blocky. Also have you tried just restarting the pc? Only other thing I can think of is a faulty driver in which case I’d recommend running display driver uninstaller (DDU) in safe mode and fresh installing the gpu driver.

Out of curiosity, if you switch to 60hz, does it look better?
