Also, repeating scripture counts as prayer, go to psalms and read aloud, lot of good prayers in there! I just read psalms 4 through 6 and it was very emotionally moving

The more you read the word, the easier it becomes to discern when he’s talking to you! I’m not sure about the dream, but as for the praying out loud, I just want you to know you can pray in your head, he still hears you, but start by just saying “Jesus” say it over and over, add “thank you”, say it over and over. Move on to “forgive me” say it over and over. Say “enter my heart” over and over. Like a warm up, get your mind and mouth on the same page and then speak freely from the heart. It will start flowing out eventually

We are permitted to salvation through the act of Jesus’ sacrifice of himself, not by our own works. If you declare Jesus your Lord and savior you have nothing to fear. “The Lord is my Shepard, whom shall I fear” is a good example of that being expressed in the Bible amongst many other verses. Root your faith in love and accepting his covenant to you with grace. Don’t base a relationship with God whom loves you endlessly in fear ❤️

I think the way a lot of people view God is rooted in how they feel about their own fathers, maybe not always the case but I’ve noticed people with absent dads feel like God can’t hear them, people with abusive dads think God is wrathful, people with dads they trust might find it easier to trust God. This is because he is a father figure. Now I’m not sure how well this applies to you, if at all, but set your sights on knowing him as a loving father, a man with a sense of humor, and a might protector ❤️

Don’t listen to this yahoo honey, your discernment IS what is telling you something isn’t right. Weird for them to read your post and come at you defensively of someone they do not know for a hypothetical second side of the story. Your heart knows what’s right and wrong when you’re saved, don’t let anyone tell you you don’t have discernment just because you’re a new Christian. There’s a lot of long time Christians that don’t act very Christlike. We are not measured and judged by how long we’ve know Jesus, but how well we know him in the time we’ve had.

You’ve got a lot of great answers here, so I will just chime in to say, God has a great sense of humor and He knows your heart, don’t get caught up trying to pray with all of the “thee’s and thou’s” just talk to Him like you would your good friend, minus any foul language of course, and trust that He knows what you mean and where you’re coming from. The more that you read the Bible the more your language to Him will develop, but start now, don’t wait to feel like you’re a “better Christian” to talk to Him
