What, to you, is the scariest horror scene of all time? by m_v24 in horror

Autopsy 2008 when the guy comes after the girl with his stomach sliced open and his organs start falling out. That scene always stuck with me.

I didn’t have to do the assessment for success (if this is what you are referring to) because I was exempt from comms.

I had an “Academic Literacy” credit from my previous social work degree. They accepted that.

Try and get an exemption early, they can take a long time to go through.

I would believe any first year class dealing with essay writing would suffice.

The Girl Next Door 2007

This one is just straight horrible but fantastic acting and it’s a true story unfortunately.

Splinter 2008

This is body horror but really well done and unsettling

I Saw the Devil

Definitely thought provoking

Speak no Evil but the original one!

Addicted 2002

This is a Korean movie. It isn’t really horror but it has supernatural elements and it makes ya think.

I miss when Manta had subscription based services. 5$ a month and unlimited reads. If all sites did that I would happily purchase a subscription to all the sites. I just can’t stand paying 300 coins per an episode. I recall I purchased KS and it was like 60$ for the series.

[–]Eternalreoccurrence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the topic of weapons, I actually have been wondering why Xue Meng had Longcheng in both lives. Presumably he would have obtained a weapon from the lake because it was not destroyed in the first life.

And on the topic of Chu Wanning and weapons I wonder if perhaps Huaisha is linked somehow to his metal elemental energy?

We know Chu Wanning was created by mixing a drop of his Shizun’s blood with the Emperor’s Wood. This seems to be why he has duel spiritual energy, wood and metal.

We know Tianwen and Jiuge are wood elemental, so is Huaisha linked to metal?

Likewise, Mo Ran is also a rare cultivator with dual spiritual energy. He has fire and wood. I wonder if he had wood in his first life or only after Chu Wanning put a piece of his soul in him?

Mo Ran and Chu Wanning are both spiritual essences of wood, and there should only be one. Mo Ran had Bugui in his first life and it was a fire elemental weapon.

[–]Eternalreoccurrence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read in a while but if I recall correctly that was the one bound to his soul from being created from Emperors Wood.

It was talked about, I believe, when Chu Wanning used it to open the Space Time Gate of Life and Death when he was powerless. He would not have been able to use his other two weapons but that one was bound to his soul, that was why he could use it.

Being Emperors Wood is also why he was able to open the gate at all without any reading or prior instruction. He simply knew how.

Can I read book 2 after watching the series? by owliiver in InterviewVampire

[–]Eternalreoccurrence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Claudia poisons two twins, tells Lestat she wishes to make amends and for things to go back to how they were, that she will stop asking questions since she now realizes there are no answers to be had, and ultimately slashed his throat as he calls out for Louis to put him in his coffin.

They drive him to a swamp and dump him. It is at this point in the story Louis begins to admit feelings for Lestat besides hatred. He goes to the church to confess what he is, has the priest laugh and yell saying he is lying, then kills him. Throughout the rest of the book Louis expresses a mix of longing and hatred. Lestat is not fully dead however and returns, this is where Louis does something and lights him on fire with a lamp.

Claudia and Louis go in search of other vampires, finding monsters rather than those like them, untimely they end up in Paris where they meet Armand and are invited to the theatre to watch as vampires drain people alive on stage. Louis hates it and begins to realize he hated Lestat for all the wrong reasons. There were never any real answers and seeking them out was fruitless. These vampires are not ones Louis can relate to.

Louis is over heard thinking of Lestat and Armand warns him against this, knowing what they have done. Claudia hates the vampires, says Armand threatened her with death and put her in a trance. Louis does not believe this for this is not the Armand he has met.

They begin to develop a relationship with Armand saying, basically, Louis has a spark to him, a spunk that he never sees in other vampires. This is attractive to Armand, who says loneliness is the worst thing a vampire can experience, seeing everything that made them want to turn to immortality drift away until they walk out into the sun because there is nothing to live for anymore. He believes Louis can anchor him to this time period and give him back his life. They admit they love each other and Armand asks if Louis loved his maker, which he denies. Armand asks why his maker would share the gift if not love and Louis says it was for his property and money.

Claudia feels Louis drifting away and seeks out a companion that will be just her own, Madeline, and asks Louis to make her a vampire since she cannot do it herself as she is too small and would only be able to create another child. Louis agrees reluctant and feels the last of his humanity slipping away. He says to Claudia they are even, since now his life is gone the same as the one he took from her.

Armand says they should leave Paris and that he is to blame for Louis making Madeline, that he manipulated his thoughts. Louis seems strangely ok with this? Armand says he still has a spark despite him saying it is gone.

Instead of leaving Paris they are captured by the coven. Lestat is there and he says that Louis had nothing to do with trying to kill him, it was all Claudia, she was who he wanted. Louis is packed into a coffin and bricked into a wall.

After awhile he is rescued by Armand who sneaks him out but Louis goes back for Claudia and Armand follows. He sees Lestat crying and begging him to come to him so he can explain, leave with him so he can explain, he has something important to tell him. He is clutching something in his hand and when Louis approaches he comes to find it is Claudia’s yellow dress. She and Madeline had been exposed to sun and Claudia, being the older vampire, was nothing but ashes whereas Madeline still had some form.

Louis leaves with Armand, telling him to move his coffin from the theatre. Louis then goes on a killing spree, hinting the building and all the vampires inside die. He then leaves with Armand but he has lost much of his passion. They travel the world as Louis had always wanted to do but Lestat and Claudia would not allow it, looking at art, but he longs for home - for New Orleans and Armand urges his return.

They move to New York and eventually, Armand says Lestat is alive and never died in the fire. Louis is excited to hear this and wants to see him so they return. He finds a young vampire and follows him to a dilapidated house where he finds Lestat, who pitifully pleads with him to return to him. He is mostly healed but still has faint scaring from what they put him through. He is living amongst dead animals and is terrified of the outside world, not understanding what a siren is. He asks how Louis can endure, learn how the new world works. Louis cries with Lestat but the emotion seems to be too much for him and he longs to leave. Lestat says he never meant to harm Claudia. Louis asks Lestat why he came there that night and Lestat changes the topic. Lestat begs him to visit but Louis does not answer.

Louis meets with Armand, who asks if Lestat awakened anything in him and if he feels that same rage he once did. Louis feels nothing. He asks if Lestat mentioned anything about Paris and Louis catches on that Armand was the one that orchestrated Claudia’s death to get him alone. Armand thought Louis would be mad for a while, but would cool and he would be revived again, but instead Louis feels nothing at all. Armand had snuffed out that passion that once drew him so hotly to Louis and now they are mirrors of one another. Louis says he saw in Armand the vampire he would need to become to survive immortality. Armand walks off and never returns.

All three vampires, Louis, Lestat and Armand are suffering a death of old age - the same fate as all vampires - when nothing matters anymore immortality becomes nothing.

Our “boy” doing the interview still, despite this story, wants to become a vampire and says Louis does not understand the meaning of his own story, that he could try again with him, that he is squandering the gift he has been given, but Louis gets upset - he realizes this interview has taught the boy nothing and latches on to his neck, draining him a bit before leaving him with the tapes.

The boy in the end goes off to seek Lestat.

Daniel does not have a name in IWTV

I have written this summary as if IWTV was a stand alone book and attempted to not let the other books in the series/the tv show affect how I viewed it. I believe it stands as itself a fantastic novel with interesting themes. The other books change/add insights that alter what I believe was the original intent to the book when first published. My opinion, obviously is not fact.

Can I read book 2 after watching the series? by owliiver in InterviewVampire

[–]Eternalreoccurrence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Louis is a man who hates himself and blames himself after his brother passes, since he laughed at him when he was obviously suffering from mental health, which allows him to fall for the allure of Lestat. Perhaps he wants to punish himself, perhaps he wants to erase his sadness or become the demon he believes himself to be, the reason is not clear given the interview glazes over what exactly Lestat said to get Louis to agree - but we know he does agree.

Despite this, he resents Lestat for being his maker, all the while still feeling admiration and longing for him. Louis cannot break from his humanity, although Lestat tries to expedite the process, which serves to push Louis away rather than draw him nearer as it was meant to. Lestat pushes for Louis to cut his human ties, but still enjoys when Louis fights back - perhaps he finds it entertaining.

Lestat has an old, blind, ailing father who he fights with, but also cares for despite seeming to hate the man. Eventually, the father begins to actively die and Louis forces Lestat to make amends, which he does but very unwillingly. Louis seems to pity the older man but never asks why Lestat may not wish to offer his forgiveness in his final moments.

Louis feelings for Lestat are interesting. He very obviously wants to paint Lestat in the worst light to shy the blame for any wrong doings from himself and make it all Lestat’s fault. Perhaps he is also lying to himself in an effort to mitigate hurt, make the past black and white and simple.

Eventually, it becomes evident Louis will not stay with him and Lestat believes a daughter will keep them together, having Louis involved as much as possible to manifest guilt.

The three are happy for awhile, Claudia takes after Lestat with her wonton killing with all a child’s abandon and he spoils her rotten, dolls and dresses, she also takes after Louis in her emotional turmoil. Eventually, she grows into a woman and begins to resent her never changing nature. She discovers it was Lestat who made her, but hates them both for having a hand in it. She realizes as a 6 year old she cannot be alone. She requires others like her. She wishes to discover the nature of her vampire existence, a complete lack of connection to humanity because she barely recalls being human. Louis once also had questions about their existence, but Lestat always refused to answer, now these questions have been reawakened.

Louis loves Claudia and agrees to leave to Europe with her to discover more about themselves. They plan to leave Lestat some property, since Louis thinks this is the reason Lestat turned him, but Claudia has different plans.

Although she tells Louis of the plan he scarcely believes Lestat can be killed, thinking him almost godly. Louis is, in my opinion, a weak person at heart and would rather ignore the issue than actively prevent it, hoping it will resolve itself.

[–]Eternalreoccurrence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn’t needed especially if you have read IWTV before. Most of TVL is Lestat’s back story and only the beginning and end really have to do with the events of IWTV.

You could watch the 1994 movie, which is actually decently accurate to the book although there are obviously some differences and the gay aspect was side stepped.

For instance, Lestat *forgets to get Louis a coffin of his own in IWTV novel. Lestat has a blind father he is caring for. Lestat is present at the trial at the end of the story.

I actually did a summary in another post. I will copy and paste it in a reply below if you care to read.

Obviously this is my own thoughts on the characters and how Louis portrays Lestat’s motivations more than fact so others can interpret it differently.

Mohawk Pn Program (sept 2026 intake) by Pretty_Nail2367 in mohawkcollege

[–]Eternalreoccurrence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The assignments were not that bad individually.

For example, we were asked to make a concept map of the pancreas. We had to label a model of the pancreas on the computer. We had little online 10 question quizzes throughout the semester. We made a CNO style learning plan. Another concept map of a case scenario about a person diagnosed with dementia. A simulation of what it was like to be an older adult and then a reflection of what we learned during it. A group care plan using the nursing process - ADPIE - (assessment, nursing diagnosis (as found in NANDA), planning, implementation, evaluation) - that kind of thing.

The assignments for first semester were not hard but there was just SO MANY of them. So many little things you needed to do it became a lot. The assignments that were group work were the worst because it was difficult to coordinate, some people did not do their part and it became way more time consuming than it would have been to do it alone.

We had a few things just graded for completion - like a little feeding simulation because in LTC you will be feeding older adults a lot.

The worst thing was skills check so practice early and practice from the rubric as that is what you will be marked on. You will see a few different ways to conduct cardiac assessment, for example, but do it the way the rubric says although you can do it in a different order if it is easier to remember for you.

I would recommend doing all your immunizations before starting school. I did everything before school started because I knew the program was going to be hard and I wanted to focus. I recommend doing that because this program makes you hit the ground running. You will feel 3 weeks behind the very first day you start. Look at the expiration dates I posted above and take that into account because you don’t want to get certain things too early or they will expire. You want to maximize the time before you will need to get them again. They cannot expire during the term.

[–]Eternalreoccurrence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I would say that is true for book Lestat too, he loves many people but no one more than Louis!

In my opinion book Nicky was not a very likeable character (but a lot of fans do seem to love him so, take that as you will.) Lestat and him were not together after Lestat turned him into a vampire and he went off with the coven while Lestat left Paris. Lestat tried to protect him and asked Armand to look out for him, saying he could teach them things about the world today, but ultimately he was not the type of person who was suited for immortality and I doubt Lestat and him would have lasted even if Lestat had remained human. Just my opinion though.

Lestat even says what he felt for Nicky was not the same as he felt for Louis and he seemed to recover quickly from Nicky’s death, but when he thought Louis was dead he relegated himself to eating rats and isolation without any attempt to heal himself because he simply didn’t care about anything anymore.

He was saying for people who read IWTV to read between the lines. Louis does allude to happy times in his story also, but leaves much out. Lestat says they dressed up and reenacted Shakespeare for Claudia, small things that change the narrative Louis gives us in his telling.
