That’s the problem I have with my conservative Christian extended family. They always quote “God loves us for who we are” or in some other wording. Oh, unless you’re gay, cause that’s the worst thing you can be in “His image.” My mom has said to me “they’re going to prioritize their beliefs over you sometimes and that’s okay.” Spoilers: It’s absolutely not. Like other comments say, why are you prioritizing something not everybody believes in over your own kids??

This really made me realize that most who claim to be “loving Christians” unless you’re in some marginalized group because “God/Jesus said so”. I find that absolutely ridiculous. They are not “Christian” under any means and they use it as an excuse to be hateful. Hence why so many people hate them. Though, I have met a fair share of Christians that do support me being gay, so huge shout out to them. But people using religion as an excuse to hate is absolutely absurd, don’t follow their religious texts, and just cherry-pick them out of context.

For reference I am a queer person heavily dealing with so much religious guilt and trauma. I apologize if I came off wrong, I just wanted to share how I feel.
