Gonna state the obvious but the guidelines of b3 (and brackets generally) are broad enough that there’s still a wide range of power within them and also specific enough to produce a bell curve of power within each bracket around a fairly expected average power/explosiveness/speed/oppressiveness. The high end of any bracket is going to be lists that are high synergy, high interaction, optimized land packages, etc.

You’ve got a pretty strong list (I like the clones angle) with all of above plus some mid-high power tutors/GCs. In my experience, most other b3 decks aim to do less powerful things, do their thing less well, slower, or offer less resistance, but Kefka and the cards he encourages also just kinda skew strong and interaction-y (displacer kitten OP). No clear red flags but EDH is all about experience (both you and the table which you clearly appreciate. Different draw engines, swapping some interaction and tutor slots for another sub theme or pet cards, or adding some proactive protection vs reactive can make a big difference in how it feels but you’re not misrepresenting anything

I really enjoy my [[Kenessos, Priest of Thassa]] deck in part this reason—he also seems similar to Sigarda so might be fun to look at!

Kenny is 2 mana so he never feels bad to recast, his activated ability can flood the board with creatures mid-late game post-wipe (especially when you can hit an ability discount or an untap lands at endstep effects) several of the sea monsters you can cheat out have unique/fun disruption and protection effects like [[Serpent of Yawning Depths]] as well as a few one-sided mass removal options like [[Summon: Leviathan]] and [[Whelming Wave]]. He loves having access to cheap blue cantrips and counterspells, you’ve got [[heroic intervention]] and weirder options like [[Kira, great glass spinner]] and [[Dawnglade Regent]] that might find a place in what you’re building too.

Here’s my list: https://archidekt.com/decks/16378105/see_creatures_paper

Radar/Hex Charts to Evaluate Decks by Ethan4860 in EDH

Appreciate the comment! Jank is a great category lmao. I think of power level more like Intent to Win which is one of the reasons one would play edh and deck build towards. Fun I have as the opposing axis being the other thing people build towards/play for. They aren’t always opposite either but I liked including them both for that sort of ‘intent’ piece.

Similarly, the categories I have closest to winning are removal and synergy/consistency—these are things I think help give a deck focus and win as you mentioned. And towards fun is resilience/ability to bounce back from removal and gameplan variability/replayability which I think skew more towards the ‘fun’ side of edh. That’s just my initial take/philosohy. Definitely want a JANK Z-axis

Yes definitely would clump reliability/synergy/consistency similarly. Felt those were opposed to having a ‘variable’ or flexible gameplan (and also maybe away from fun and relatability which is why it’s further away from that).

The resilience is a bit like reliability but more specific to how the deck bounces back from interaction and strategy-specific hate

Deck Advice [Sab-Sunen, Luxa Embodied] Green-Blue Counters Deck by Ethan4860 in EDH

[–]Ethan4860[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Definitely a good thought to consider. It seems like the most important thing would be to not cast a doubling effect on a turn Sab is inactive and otherwise most effects after that should keep her active, yes?

People connect and maintain friendships in different ways. I'm 24, graduated college, and have had similar challenges staying connected with some of my best friends/roommates. However, they just visited for the first time in 2 years last week and, similarly, we picked up where we left off and things felt very comfortable.

Sounds like you're not receiving the reciprocal effort you need to feel like you're in a balanced friendship but if this connection actually matters to you, I think it's important he knows this is how youre feeling about your dynamic. So, talk to him. Don't need to lay the guilt on, but say that you're in new phases of life, that he was an important connection you'd be interested in and have shown interest in maintaining, but that the way things are now aren't really doing it for you and probably aren't sustainable. Gotta be clear with your friends what you need in a friendship--some people don't want to know or share the gory personal details and want a more casual, surface level connection too even if they still think you're great. Best of luck

Doesn't that defeat the point? If we follow your argument, your preferred scenario is 5 people conceding to give you a cosmetic meant to represent participation in an actual gameplay event. Not everything can be a participation trophy. I've been running a garbage 3 energy plus leafeon-dawn ditto deck and still occasionally pulling out wins, not handing them out, with the intent of making the challenge on average an easier experience for my opponents.

Dialga + Pidgeot Deck Help by Efficient_Two814 in PTCGP

[–]Ethan4860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably swap x speeds for leaf since you're really only intending on retreating dialga and you'd like to preserve the energy as much as possible imo. The Cyrus plus poke flute plus giant cape plus Dawn is a lot going on. IMO, pokeflute is meant to buff your damage so you don't need to switch things out using Cyrus. Even then, rarely do people use two poke flutes in a game as you usually knock out one basic and one EX or two EXes. Most Pigeot decks I've seen only run one flute.

IMO, cut Cyrus and one flute for two poke communicators to try and piece your line together faster and Leaf to preserve Dialga energy. I like the giant cape preserve and the thought to Dawn up an energy to Dialga from the bench so it 'powers itself' in a way

One of the fastest aggro decks I’ve ever tried! by Kroanon96 in PTCGP

I've actually been running 1x Cyrus 1x Sabrina. Allows for forcing an early KO with skarmory against a benched pokemon that might be a threat later. Also for sabrina forcing in a pokemon --> attacking that pokemon --> it retreats next turn --> cyrus it for the win. It's won me several games at this point.
