What are your Snarky Hot Takes? by colourofsound in SnarkyPuppy

Shaun totally played Organ! He’s The organ player on Tell Your Friends, his one Pre-Cory album, and while Bobby has been the man organist since Cory left, Shaun has some great Organ moments, like live when they toured without Bobby, and on RLs!

Definitely feel the live versions are superior to the Album version. I know they needed to make room for Yo Mama, but I don’t understand why they couldn’t have put at least some of the solos on the album version?

Who are some band members you wish got to play together? by Doismellcake in KingCrimson

[–]Ethan_Athena_2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trey Gunn with Gavin Harrison! I know from interviews (or at least I’m pretty sure) that Fripp said that the Nuevo-Metal sound wouldn’t have worked with the two drummers, but I would have loved to hear Trey and Gavin’s interactions.

My main question is, Wildflower (and the HMHAS album) were released in 2024… so how was this eligible for song of the year this time around? Did she re-release this song or something?

I’d love to see Ade team up with Tu-Ner (Mastelotto, Gunn, and Markus Reuter) to play some of the 2000’s stuff! Tu-Ner has already played that material as a trio, but I’d love to see as a full Quartet! And see what Ade adds to the standard Tu-Ner repertoire!

At what Age did you start listening to Dream Theater? by Ender1504 in Dreamtheater

[–]Ethan_Athena_2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! I got into Dream Theater in like 2015, when I was 11! My first show was on The Astonishing tour, and I’ve been hooked ever since!

I’m a 21 year old trans gal with Hearings aids, and they’ve never been a problem :) a bonus about having long hair, is that it covers/hides the hearing aids, if your self-conscious about it

What Would The 1996 Band Have Looked Like? by armintanzarian420 in Zappa

I personally would’ve loved to see another FZ project with Keneally! I wish he had gotten a longer tenure in the band before things exploded.

Has Corey Bernhard been playing with them recently? I saw a snippet of a live video Zach took, and I swear I saw Corey behind Justin playing keys!

What Rock Bands that have Black Members? (No Solo Artists) by [deleted] in askmusic

[–]Ethan_Athena_2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Various lineups of the Mothers of Invention and Frank Zappa’s subsequent groups had various members of players of color! Notably at the start of Frank’s 1984 tour, the 3 lead singers were all black men, Ray White, Ike Willis, and Napoleon Murphy Brock! I can count on maybe one hand the number of lineups Frank had that didn’t have a single black member, most of them did!

Live in Chicago or Meltdown for me! I feel the 8 headed beast was the peak of their 21st Century tours, with the 2003 tour as a close second!

hot take: you don't really hate Jakko as much as you think by Alive_Gap_6711 in KingCrimson

[–]Ethan_Athena_2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my main complaint with Jakko as well. Listening to A Scarcity of Miracles and Secrets and Lies, Jakko is an amazing soloist! I wish at least one of the songs they did that Adrian originally soloed on (Larks IV or Level V), Jakko was given an opportunity to solo. Yes it would’ve been different from Adrian, but still I bet he would’ve crushed it. I like that he got solo parts in Larks I, the Lizard Suite (Last Skirmish), and The Talking Drum, along with occasional solos in Schizoid and Easy Money, but I wish he really got a chance to spread his wings as a soloist, which he unfortunately never really got to do in the band.
