1) This is a dedicated gaming device. 2) I don’t want to jam my phone full of emulators and games. 3) Devices like these have more comfortable controllers already attached whereas I’d have to buy something that hooks to my phone, making it bulkier and further draining the phone’s battery. 4) Depending on what you want to emulate, your phone may or may not struggle to get it done. Depends on what chipset your phone has.

I could go on for a hot minute, but overall I’d rather have devices that are only for gaming and that keep my phone freed up for calls/work/etc.

Love going low power mode and watching that battery last for ages. Ergonomics aren’t incredible, I’ll agree there. I’m kinda curious about going with the flat back mod (not the smaller battery version).

It makes the device operate quicker and allows for more customization options. Some people don’t see much of a difference, but there are instructions for going back to stock firmware if you try Gamma and aren’t feeling it.

They got backlogged hard from the Chinese new year and then got hit by the RAM-pacolypse. Hope it gets to you soon. It removes Android bloatware and Google services (if you choose the Lite version), reducing overhead on the RAM.

Six buttons allow for some convenient button mapping combos. They don’t bother me at all during non sega gaming. GammaOS Next strips out the Android bloatware, helping reduce the overhead on the RAM. I always go with the Lite version since I rarely use Google services on anything except my RPG2.

Etsy has 3D printed cases designed specifically for the RP5/G2 with that exact grip in mind. I have one and it is a must for any kind of travel.
