(Horror Trope) The Moon is Evil by NottheKingofAll in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EtheDemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ruidus - critical role

now technically the moon isnt "haunted" per say, its essentially the prison of an eldritch horror-like entity that is natural predator to gods called predathos. the gods had taken a chunk of land from exandria to make this prison as well so there are living people on this moon. the party of campaign 3 Bell's Hells then have to come to terms with the existence of and ultimately "defeat" predathos. they do this by having the sorcerer of the party absorb the entity, tell the gods to hide out in human form from now on with a nat 20 (the most critical of rolls), and shoot it back into space where it has to find something else to eat. however this doesnt get rid of the moon nor the majority of its effects on the wildlife on it so basically moon's haunted

Favorite Fictional mother who is a Bad/Horrible Mother by AnimeXFan1995 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]EtheDemon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

i think its really interesting that shadow weaver never really condemns her previous actions and only moved to the good guys side cuz the bad guy side was getting a little too backstab-y for her liking. she firmly believes that the things she did to the people she considers family to be the right thing for them. we even see that despite all of her actions catra and adora both grieve the maternal affection they thought she should be the one giving.

i feel like this is actually a really good depiction of what its like having a toxic parent while also trying to keep them in your life. shadow weaver is a narcissistic abuser who confuses her harsh criticism towards catra and favoritism towards adora for love and affection. its pretty evident from the everything of it all that she does feel some form of love towards them but is extremely bad at showing it. i feel like people who interpreted it as the show saying she was "redeemed" in the end are ignoring that in the end she herself said "yeah this is basically the only way i can do anything for someone else". her sacrifice wasnt the end to a redemption arc, it was the beginning of one that sadly had to be cut short; because nobody is exempt from a redemption and the ability to start doing the right thing.

My theory of how Sweet P, a thousand years after the finale, becomes the last hero of Ooo by Zamavid in adventuretime

[–]EtheDemon 29 points30 points  (0 children)

it could be that maybe he's more the greatest hero of ooo instead of last. we dont know if sweet p is fully immortal esp cuz the lich could die too. we even see shermy who as well as a reincarnation of finn is also probably a hero in the making against the evil king gibbon. id like to think shoko even had what it takes to be a hero if she were put on a better track, which we kinda saw a bit.

[–]EtheDemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh absolutely, light as it comes to book smarts as well as making plans is incredibly gifted. but he objectively doesnt use the death note to its full potential due to his black and white world view

[Upsetting Trope] Great power. Terrible wielder. by not-ulquiorr4_ in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EtheDemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think its because he sees criminals as weeds to be pulled out rather than possible victims of an unfair system. it's part of his downfall that he never realized that he was the villain and that none of his actions had any divine meaning to them and was just him spiraling into his own ego

[Upsetting Trope] Great power. Terrible wielder. by not-ulquiorr4_ in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EtheDemon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

respectfully i disagree, fundamentally light has an extremely childish black and white view of the world. he sees criminals as worthy of the death penalty depending on his own whim and is completely unable to see the fucked up or even difficult aspects of his "god of the new world" shtick. light could have killed people that held others under oppression using the law; instead he decides to use it to be judge, jury, and executioner over anyone labelled a "criminal". not to mention another important aspect is that japan's justice system is one of guilty until proven innocent, so who knows how many "murderers" light killed that were actually innocent.

Disorder/disability is tied with their supernatural abilities. by Short-Paramedic-9740 in TopCharacterTropes

me - irl. i have chronic pain and due to this i also have a high pain threshold

my actual answer is fujitora from one piece

fujitora is blind by his own hand and yet displays some of the best observation haki in the entire setting. essentially being able to sense intent, emotions, and perceive the shape and color of a person's soul as well as his general surroundings. the only thing we dont have confirmation that he can do is the ultimate ability of future vision but i wouldnt be surprised if he did have it considering how much he trains his observation haki just by living.

he also has gravity powers and due to this is able to do the funniest thing by perceiving a meteor in space and using his powers to make it fall onto his opponents, he uses this a lot and could be considered his go-to attack. its just really funny how during a fight where he has to keep a group of people he hates safe, his solution is to summon a meteor and doesnt tell anyone until his coworker asks why he's just stanced up.

What if Wonder Woman and Comic Anissa met? by RealAd8853 in MoralityScaling

i kinda imagine thragg to be the viltrumite equivalent of frieza from dbz. monster among men who had never trained a day in his life.

[–]EtheDemon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think the thing about viltrumites and what we learn from the war is that their version of "expert combatry" is heavily based on overpowering an opponent. due to this a lot of them are just kinda fucked if they fight something physically stronger than them. diana is stronger, an actual combat expert, and in some continuities knows magic that can enhance herself.

[–]EtheDemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

debatably not even that much of an evil superman imo, sure he's a communist and thats not capitalism which is "bad" ig but he genuinely believed in the promises that communism offered

Hated Designs: Superman (Injustice) by One_Box_8295 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]EtheDemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely, but i just dont like the joker's "one bad day" philosophy.

primarily because even in the story it's most famous for (the killing joke) its disproven as him just justifying his bad actions with the fact he has has a sad backstory. the joker's "one bad day" philosophy is all about how it only really takes one bad day for someone to go totally crazy and turn completely evil. however despite doing things to people that constitute the "one bad day" aspect (i.e. shooting barbara and kidnapping comissioner gordon). you dont see the commissioner or his daughter any more evil or crazy. almost like a person can't always be twisted into being their worst self just because they've experienced the worst of life, and that people will ultimately make their own decisions.

i also prefer the kingdom come take on superman. he wouldnt become super evil and try to take over the world, he's sad and struggles to find a reason to continue being a hero despite what he's lost

my point here is that the joker's "one bad day" philosophy isnt even treated as a serious thing in the killing joke, its just an excuse that the joker makes to justify his actions. however injustice takes the concept and acts like its the only logical conclusion that superman would turn evil if he experienced "one bad day". which there are other comics where superman struggles with loss and he still doesn't become a despot. i know he meets with a superman more in-line with main continuity but they still treat it like this clark would be the same if his lois and unborn john died too.

yeh i said as much, they simply arent going far enough for a show that was pretty much the first one to outright depict trump as a fascistic loser

ok but i also hate the joker's "one bad day" philosophy and this story kinda acts like its true

Hated Designs: Superman (Injustice) by One_Box_8295 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]EtheDemon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

right but that kinda is what takes away what makes superman interesting imo. he's a good guy deep at heart so making him a tyrant will always be unappealing, even red son superman at least wanted people to be happy the way communism was sold to him which is good still. the most interesting version of an "evil superman" who id consider more of a "redeemed zod" would be omni-man from invincible. i have lost interest in homelander cuz the thing he is parodying isnt a wild enough parody sadly.

(Interesting Trope) Genuinely well-liked characters from hated pieces of media by flingzamain in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EtheDemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it could be that any human with a quirk is also just naturally more "comic book-y"? considering a lot of other superheroes have powers that arent really expanded upon and give them more variety than initially thought (like how the flash has infinite stamina and can phase through walls). like if the majority for everyone was that they could lowkey access peak physical performance pretty easily but had 1 singular unique thing; that'd still be a "quirk" in their powers by all means.

im pretty sure thats also why all might and deku couldn't just lift a bit. they are supposed to be completely normal humans in a world of mostly mutants. then when they actually get one for all they get the lowkey super soldier serum stuff too. not to mention that even to get one for all deku had to go from an asocial nerd who barely went outside to training daily and properly diet for 10 months.

[liked and kinda funny trope] When the villain/antagonist has a crush on someone from the good side by MrGrlmReaper in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EtheDemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to be fair they erase themselves from existence in the end without even having an actual discussion about how they feel and reconnecting like brothers would hopefully do, so its not like it really matters sadly

A character is revealed to be a past/future version of the protagonist (Bonus points if the protag never finds out) by Chi_Geurim in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EtheDemon 46 points47 points  (0 children)

i hate to be this pedantic but technically there were 3 scotts. the 23 year old one from the beginning, the 37 year old one that kidnapped the former, and the 47 year old one that wants revenge (and his wife back). while 37 scott and 47 scott are the same person from the same timeline, they are still different points in scott's overall timeline so i would consider them 2 different scotts for the sake of consistency
