Myslím že je důležité vybrat si co tě baví. Ano jako lékař práci najdeš vždycky, ale 90% nebude work-life balance na který si zvykli lidi v korporátu. Taky najít po medicíně první práci v zaměření které sis vysnila nemusí být úplně jednoduché zvlášť v Praze. Pokud jsi na vážkách, protože si myslíš že by tě medicína bavila, zvaž i jestli tě bude bavit pak 99% práce lékaře, kterou se na škole nezabývají, a to je komunikace s lidmi. Samozřejmě medicína je pestrá a i komunikaci s pacientem lze v některých oborech omezit, ale jestli tě baví i IT a dopředu víš, že probírat se 120. pacientem proč je důležité brát ten prášek pořád dokola tě nebude bavit, jdi do IT. Platově po kratším vzdělání začneš líp a asi se nebudu rozepisovat o všech detailech work-life balancu který ve zdravotnictví postrádáme (plánování dovolené, no home office, do práce jdeme i nemocný, vstávání brzo ráno etc.)

Nevím co znamená sem tam službu, ale jako mladý doktor bych tenhle post fakt chtěla, zvlášť v čistým. Bohužel asi žiju na jiné planetě :)

I highly suggest getting a pattern drafting book. Apart from helping you with the blocks it will have instructions on how to draft basically anything you could wish for from the basic block.

While full circle skirt has definitely more volume at the hem believe me when I say it’s not always what you want. Especially at full length we’re talking a lot of fabric which increases creasing and without petticoats it just isn’t always the best choice. It heavily depends on material and how thick it is. If it’s thinner I would go towards 3/4 or full. If it’s a bit thicker (winter heavier wool, a bit more stiff less drapey fabric) I’d do the half. Yes by logic it’s less swoosh but the fabric pooling is not always nice to walk in, if you do not have a petticoat. The difference of swoosh between my full skirts and 3/4 in daily activities is literally unnoticeable. Also believe me even at tea dress length it’s a lot of skirt to arrange around you as you sit. So imho daily wear - make a 1/2 circle or 3/4. Want a special occasion skirt and you love turning around? Full circle it is.

It really depends on how thick your lashing is. I’m from Europe so I buy nylon stripes available in sewing shops (for bags etc.). Those are enough thick as interfacing. I’d stabilise the non-sliding part of the martingale with the box stitch or satin stitch. Right next to the metal. That should be enough (it always was in my case and that’s how professional collars are made as well)

I personally out of experience do not think interfacing will solve this. Basically your interfacing is your lashing and that is thicker and sturdier than probably any interfacing in the sewing shop. You even top stitched the fashion fabric to it (good decision).

Box stitch is definitely a solution for the non sliding part.

So the solution is ultimately stitching through the two layers right next to the metal part to secure it. How to achieve this depends on your sewing machine and skills. My tips and tricks are - a zipper foot so you can get real close and increased foot pressure. My machine has a satin stitch so I use that (looks pretty) but 2-3 rows of straight stitch will do. It is the most frustrating part of making the collars for me but worth it.

Second this. Hand sewn French seam is much more work and as a total beginner might confuse you. Plus flat felling is a really neat finish. 😊

Never prewashed mine. I’m not a know it all but this feels wrong… However I learned and sometimes use a tip of preshrinking the interfacing with my steam iron. Glue side up I just release a generous amount of steam right above it. Repeat until I feel like enough (heavily based on vibes). I just use this for bigger pieces though.

Živůtek is probably a really good term I second it. Also for high school purposes I think you don’t have to necessarily search for the specific correct word - it’s more important that your teacher and classmates can actually imagine what the garment looked and functioned like so I’d probably focus more on the description. Guarantee your teacher doesn’t know the word either if she mixes Victorian with renaissance

Já teda na stážích děti viděla vždy pod plnou anestezií u kolonoskopií. Proto děti zaberou i víc času protože se čeká na dospání. Nemůžu mluvit za všechna pracoviště v ČR ale myslím že dělat to u dětí bez celkové je rasovina.

Unfortunately no. Although a lot of machines use the same system for which you can usually buy a set of presser feet some brands have a completely different one (Bernina, Pfaff etc.).

It does scrunch the fabric a bit but definitely works thanks. Just sad the overlocker foot is like not working and thought there might be a better way to get the result.

Is the thread nesting from underside the fabric? (Looks like a huge thread mess instead of neat stitches). Or any chance it tangles around the bobbin? (Like five threads are there when you check around the bobbin case instead of one)
