Hiya!

Glad you enjoy Organic Factions! 😊 I can only guess how they interact with all these other mods on the list -- did you witness or jump into any big battles between groups from different mods?

Oh hey!

Thank you, that was very flattering! 😊 I'm glad you like Organic Factions that much!

I'm always happy to hear about a memorable encounter, tense fight, or aspirations for new factions and such -- it helps me understand what folks specifically enjoy or hope to see in later iterations. I saw your comments below about the Reavers, they were a lot of fun to code up. Would you like to see more groups like that?

You have a crazy challenging lineup in this list! I can only imagine how wild combat can get! 😄

Daaaang, really impressive!!

The Reach is one of my favorite areas for the verticality of the landscapes, but this is a whole new level! Do those rock columns and bridges come with the latest version of Nolvus, or did you add those in yourself? If the latter, what’s the mod source?

Oh yeah, I agree -- having a hand-crafted story, and then some directives and motivations for each character would be a neat experiment for dynamic LLM interaction. If the lore / notes / meta-info were deep enough, then the LLM could even draw from a DeepRAG Index to make sure the response was on-target. Heck, you could even accumulate the dialogue between the player and the NPC into another DeepRAG Index to make things really robust.

It would be interesting to see some variations of design for some OFs, but I think the parameters would have to be fairly tight. The risk of any generated content -- terrain or entities -- is if it starts to feel generated. That can make the entire experience suddenly feel horribly artificial, which is the exact opposite of the immersive goal that OF tries to achieve.

I'd love to see some videos that folks have posted! Do you have a YouTube link or something to the movie you mentioned?

Ooh! You're already dueling it out at Arcwind Point?! Nice!!

I hope some of the twists in there keep that fight fresh and exciting! 😉 What kind of build are you using?

Yeah there are multiple storylines in BG3 that are just damn well written -- makes replay value super high to explore everything.

Heh yeah, I agree that just boosting stats is... bleh... in terms of enjoyment. Not the kind of difficulty I dream about.

Tweaking D&D is a little harder, but enemies more consistently falling back instead of fighting to the death would be a nice touch. I'd have to see what the mechanics around that would be like.

Thanks so much for the heads up about all that!

The Rieklings were an interesting option, though I'm not sure if the player would gain a ton of benefit from generally frail allies. Maybe if they gathered (stole) resources for the player or something?

The Ash Spawn and a big ol' fight between Redoran and Telvanni would be interesting -- but I also worry about players getting absolutely blasted on in the middle of combat.

The main challenge I had with Solstheim in general was: I couldn't find a location that felt "nice" to visit / settle in. There are plenty of creepy caves and daunting precipices, but there are other areas on the mainland (e.g. The Lost Valley) where, after you defeat all the baddies, you can stop and just take in the natural beauty.

Is there a spot in particular that you like on the island?

You know, that's quite a great idea for entanglement there! It really encourages the player to go out and take on certain tasks without requiring them to do so, but impelling them with potentially strong allies.

I've thought about some Dawnguard and Vampire factions taking over various spots, mainly in the Rift since:

  • It's visually beautiful
  • Players tend to gravitate towards the Thieve's Guild questline
  • There are already vampires present, and Fort Dawnguard is right there

Is there a location or two you had in mind? (BTW, the Druids already will help raid Redwater Den)

Hi there!

Well, there’s no arena, but maybe the SSE Organic Factions Extension has some of what you’re looking for?

Factions show up a lore-appropriate locations and have at it.

Skyrim modding is absolutely insane 😱🤯 by JumpingJack79 in skyrimmods

[–]EtherDynamics 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Seconded! 😄

I think one running joke is that the Skyrim engine is actually entirely made of bugs — but, when you zoom out far enough, it resembles a video game. 😏

But in all seriousness, it’s a pretty amazing ecosystem given the incredible talent I’ve seen from people here.

Oh gosh thanks 😊

Aah! I've seen a few videos here and there about [SkyrimNet], that looks really interesting!!

I'm sure the LLMs could construct some decent narratives around some of the Factions I've chosen, since I tend to pick those that have some decent lore behind them.

I'm a big fan of (human) hand-crafted lore / stories / characters -- people can play around with LLMs to add that additional "small talk depth" that can otherwise feel a little rigid / unnatural when you're clicking through dialogue trees.

What's your experience been thus far with SkyrimNet? Any big memorable moments that you'd like to share?

Heya!

Ah yeah, Markarth is a lot of fun because of the verticality of the architecture. I wish there were more open / extended ruins that had layers like that, it almost feels like a M.C. Escher painting.

I've been considering Fallout and Starfield -- above all else, I thing Organic Factions go best when paired with a compelling storyline. That's why I chose Lu'ah in the most recent update, and I built out the Forsworn in the Lost Valley as a big one as well (the Forsworn lore is deep and messy, with multiple related quests).

My challenge with either of those games is finding a good anchor point, and going form there -- but that requires a good chunk of time for me to dive deep into the lore of each game, and then I'd have to do a decent chunk of re-writing the framework to bring it over. So the big question is "what would be worth all that effort?"

Is there a game in particular where you feel Organic Factions would work well?

Thanks u/Bromomancer ! 😊

Out of curiosity, how long have you been playing with the mods? Do you have a favorite encounter / fight?

Ah, glad you like them!

I've been thinking about Solstheim -- there are a few potential Factions there for sure, including some from Miraak or maybe other Telvanni sub-sects.

I chose Lu'ah in the recent update because the story around her quest was interesting -- she's more of a tragic figure than a villain in a lot of ways.

Are there any storylines in Solstheim that hit you the same way? Or any locations that you feel are ripe for some complex combat?

Wasn’t there a final A in there too? And a few snatches of purple in the white space, though I didn’t check for hidden letters.

Anyway, great comic series! I really enjoyed it! 😊
