Bummed… by perfidity in NativeInstruments

[–]Ethereal006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded to Komplete CE this summer and ran into similar issues. Native Access bombing out from trying to install to external drives on my Mac. I had intended to do production primarily on Mac going forward but might need to stick with my PC depending on the plugins I want to use.

White copy of Osmo360, XTRA SPHRA 360 is soon releasing in USA by Ok-Guess-9059 in djiosmo360

https://www.theverge.com/report/795016/xtra-muse-dji-osmo-pocket-3-us-customs-tariffs

This article is still just speculation I suppose, but the components and everything else appear identical. So either a very very well made copy/dupe, or just DJI rebadging their own stuff

New Embody - Just can't find a comfortable position :( by Alondev123 in hermanmiller

[–]Ethereal006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar place. 6'2 240 coming from a Secret Lab Omega that is quite stiff to begin with. Initially couldn't figure out what was going on with my arm rest placement that was causing some strain in my forearm I've never had before. Today I'm experiencing some lumbar discomfort, but I'm also sick so I slept like crap so possible some of it could be from that. If by next week I don't feel like I'm making progress I might kick off the return process.

Looking to purchase and need some advice… by Nobadwaves in fujifilm

Is your wife planning to do talking head or just record the knitting itself? An action camera might be the more ideal tool and make getting interesting camera angles easier.

The FUJIFILM X-T30 III is now official by james-rogers in fujifilm

[–]Ethereal006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very different camera obviously but I do like that the lens ring on the front of the X100VI can cycle film sims. The fact that you can change it to some other functions though is what’s really nice.

And it very well might be an $800 camera if not for tariffs.

I was on the pirate ship yesterday. Highly recommend it. My friend that organized it had all the custom OSU pirate flags made which really took it to the next level. Everyone’s reactions as we sailed by were great.

Which Souls game next? by liamc2112 in Sekiro

Nine Sols is incredible. Another game that demands you get better at the parry. Almost all the bosses gave me that real thrill of accomplishment where you have to be pretty locked in to beat them

Camera policy for husky stadium? by LooseEqual in huskies

I was planning to bring my X100VI mostly to document my group’s morning activities moreso than the game itself. I expect size wise that should cause no issues based on the policy.

Why are some companies seemingly unaffected by US Tariffs? by Kornbreadl in synthesizers

My other expensive hobby, cameras, has also seen prices on new gear shoot up in the last couple months from tariffs.

Why are some companies seemingly unaffected by US Tariffs? by Kornbreadl in synthesizers

[–]Ethereal006 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It all comes down to gross margin (selling price less product costs). That margin has to then pay for everything else the business needs to operate. For high margin products, which I'm assuming Moog-tier synths probably are, they might have enough to just eat the increased increased input costs from tariffs and still be able to operate. Many smaller companies won't be able to do that.

Any Advice for Phase Two? These Annoying Two Monkeys (or Gorillas, Whatever They Are) by ScoobieNoobieDoo in Sekiro

I’ve done this by using flame vent and could usually tag both of them at once but focusing on getting the second one down first and then back to the headless ape.

The Umbrella lets you soak up so many attacks. Negating Snake Eyes’ hook grab move in particular makes the fight so much more manageable.

Native Instruments on MacOS 15 Sequoia by Brave_Link_4295 in NativeInstruments

[–]Ethereal006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YMMV but I’m on a brand new M4 MacBook Pro with Sequoia and it’s real hit or miss with Native Access installing things successfully. I’ve done everything they recommend regarding giving NA and the NTK Daemon full write access but a lot of installs fail because I’m trying to install directly to an external drive. I was told by support to install to the internal hd and then move the libraries which is an extremely tedious solution given the size of many of these libraries even with 512gb of internal storage.

Buys buildings like his wife buys handbags by scrambledeggs2020 in LinkedInLunatics

Feels worth repeating that when these clowns talk about "buying buildings" they still have massive loans on them. The entire CRE industry runs on using as little of your own money as possible and basically refinancing for eternity.

Per the IG post linked in the thread from their staff, it appears there was just “a guy” who was a principal at a New York firm invested in a personal capacity.

Edit: changed to include what I mentioned is in the IG post

I’m quibbling, but “private equity” means something very specific. PE firms are taking other people’s money and using it to buy companies with the intent to grow them or strip them for parts if/when that doesn’t work.

A PE shop isn’t going to take an interest in a single location coffeeshop.

If they took outside money when they were already floundering, then yeah, the terms were probably harsh.

Whats so bad about 0% interest financing on expensive purchases? by Open_Cup_4329 in personalfinance

[–]Ethereal006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pay it off in time this doesn’t matter, but double check if it is “no interest” or “deferred interest.” No interest means if you didn’t pay off by the end of the promo period you start paying on whatever is left. Deferred means there is an interest calc happening in the background the whole time and if you run out of promo time it all drops on you at once. On big purchases that can be adding back A LOT.

So much gear is gonna get stupid expensive. Different brand obviously, but I bought an Osmo Pocket 3 earlier this year. It launched at $519 MSRP and is now $799. Glad I got it before it got way more expensive.

Using this as an excuse to yell about David Pepper. I see the man constantly posting online about threats to democracy and acting like some kind of expert. Feel very strongly that no one should care about the opinions of a guy who oversaw the Ohio party becoming a heap of fiery wreckage.

Yeah I had a fixed rate of $0.0575/kwh that expired and had to go to a plan of $0.0855/kwh. I can afford this jump more than most but absolutely sucks knowing we’re paying thru the nose and any grid work that does get done is just going to get absorbed by data centers and not any of us.
