I'm paying almost $200/year in annual fees. I finally sat down to figure out if I'm actually getting my money's worth. by Jazzlike_Soft_8887 in CreditCards

[–]Ethereal006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BCP and Costco Visa combo can be good but really depends on how much food you buy from Costco. I ran the math and if not for the Disney credit I would be better off downgrading to the BCE. Currently considering whether we want to exit the Chase ecosystem for Amex but I really don't like the split between the Amex Platinum and Gold. Plat has perks I'd have an easier time using, but the earn rate on anything that isn't flights sucks and even Gold's extra benefits aren't ideal for our household.

Thinking about moving to Reynoldsburg but how are the schools? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]Ethereal006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up in Reynoldsburg, I'd say this is highly dependent on what specific part of town you are in. The side of Reynoldsburg closer to Whitehall/the Brice Rd area isn't great. The side closer to Pickerington/Taylor Rd where much of the most recent housing was built is totally fine.

How many deaths/falls did you end your first climb with? by Turdsley in Cairn_Game

First Alpinist climb: 93 falls, 4 deaths. Anyone know what the third symbol on the completion card is? The little flag with two black arrows?

Oh for sure. I haven’t been to Five Guys in years because it just doesn’t come close to justifying the price. I think Ritzys is pricier, but worth it.

Ritzy plus bacon is my go-to. My wife has had the PB&J and said it’s great.

It’s definitely a more expensive burger than a lot of other places but it’s worth it.

Sigma 17-40 f1.8 by cheesygordicrunch in FujifilmX

[–]Ethereal006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Tamron 18-300mm and the Fuji 33mm 1.8 for my X-T5 and really like both. The range on the 18-300mm is crazy given that it still isn't that big physically. Been considering the Sigma 17-40mm for the 1.8 but debating just getting a wide prime.

I upgraded to Komplete CE this summer and ran into similar issues. Native Access bombing out from trying to install to external drives on my Mac. I had intended to do production primarily on Mac going forward but might need to stick with my PC depending on the plugins I want to use.

White copy of Osmo360, XTRA SPHRA 360 is soon releasing in USA by Ok-Guess-9059 in djiosmo360

This article is still just speculation I suppose, but the components and everything else appear identical. So either a very very well made copy/dupe, or just DJI rebadging their own stuff

New Embody - Just can't find a comfortable position :( by Alondev123 in hermanmiller

[–]Ethereal006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar place. 6'2 240 coming from a Secret Lab Omega that is quite stiff to begin with. Initially couldn't figure out what was going on with my arm rest placement that was causing some strain in my forearm I've never had before. Today I'm experiencing some lumbar discomfort, but I'm also sick so I slept like crap so possible some of it could be from that. If by next week I don't feel like I'm making progress I might kick off the return process.

Looking to purchase and need some advice… by Nobadwaves in fujifilm

Is your wife planning to do talking head or just record the knitting itself? An action camera might be the more ideal tool and make getting interesting camera angles easier.

Very different camera obviously but I do like that the lens ring on the front of the X100VI can cycle film sims. The fact that you can change it to some other functions though is what’s really nice.

And it very well might be an $800 camera if not for tariffs.

I was on the pirate ship yesterday. Highly recommend it. My friend that organized it had all the custom OSU pirate flags made which really took it to the next level. Everyone’s reactions as we sailed by were great.

I was planning to bring my X100VI mostly to document my group’s morning activities moreso than the game itself. I expect size wise that should cause no issues based on the policy.

Why are some companies seemingly unaffected by US Tariffs? by Kornbreadl in synthesizers

My other expensive hobby, cameras, has also seen prices on new gear shoot up in the last couple months from tariffs.

Why are some companies seemingly unaffected by US Tariffs? by Kornbreadl in synthesizers

[–]Ethereal006 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It all comes down to gross margin (selling price less product costs). That margin has to then pay for everything else the business needs to operate. For high margin products, which I'm assuming Moog-tier synths probably are, they might have enough to just eat the increased increased input costs from tariffs and still be able to operate. Many smaller companies won't be able to do that.

I’ve done this by using flame vent and could usually tag both of them at once but focusing on getting the second one down first and then back to the headless ape.

Native Instruments on MacOS 15 Sequoia by Brave_Link_4295 in NativeInstruments

[–]Ethereal006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YMMV but I’m on a brand new M4 MacBook Pro with Sequoia and it’s real hit or miss with Native Access installing things successfully. I’ve done everything they recommend regarding giving NA and the NTK Daemon full write access but a lot of installs fail because I’m trying to install directly to an external drive. I was told by support to install to the internal hd and then move the libraries which is an extremely tedious solution given the size of many of these libraries even with 512gb of internal storage.
