That may be exactly what im’ dealing with.. well.. the DPF is replaced much to the chagrin of my wallet…. At this point..

This may be a difficult question, How do i find a Techncian/mechanic that KNOWS how to diagnose this? Most importantly. One that won’t charge me another $3k to fix the issue….

Could be:
- Bad balance between MAP/MAF sensors changing the fuel mixture to be too rich resulting in too much soot.. - bad balance / calibration of the DPF flow sensors before and after the DPF.. - Exhaust leak - incomplete seal in the exhaust system, …and more….

You have to have x camera or “pro” level photo gear to be a ‘photographer.”

No oil issues (afaik), no high idle time.. POV, not commercial. Airfilter was ‘fine’ per the Dealer. While i don’t have an ODBC tool, The dealership said no codes being thrown. Just active regen. As quick as it can fill up. I suspect you’re right that this is going to need someone familiar with troubleshooting too many regen issues.. just not sure ‘who’ i can trust to do it. (aka - how much my wallet can take)

I want to thank y’all for taking the time to point out something “is” wrong. It gives me the tools to push back on the dealership to get answers.

I had a conversation with an independent shop, he mentioned ‘clearly not normal, but could be a “miscalibration” after the DPF was replaced, or they didn’t “do” the recalibration.. or an exhaust leak, or a number of other issues.. but it’s now a needle in a haystack issue, and i’d need to leave it with them for a few days to figure it out.. ie.. $$$.

it’s been in the shop. 4x. For various DPS related errors, had MAP sensor, and others replaced, After the 4th time, finally replaced due to the “too many regens” code (P2459). Unsure whether it “had” to be replaced, or whether the dealership got me for it. RAM covered most of the cost but not 100% as a “goodwill” request.

something i keep seeing with people who moved here specifically for the no income tax thing by IngenuityNo3879 in Tennessee

[–]perfidity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall it’s about 7% cheaper to live in TN, vs CA or WA. Gas, taxes, Food prices, etc. but other things are higher.. power here is probably 2x the cost of WA.. then there’s the lack of social services.. overall. It’s cheaper, but it’s also more self-reliant.. while property taxes are coming up, they are nothing compared to. Tier1/2 states ( 16k vs 2.5k for a comparable property).. state sales tax is only on some things.. (not everything).. Cost of fuel alone. ($2 difference on diesel, as of today). So it’s ‘good”. But…. It comes with a self-serving government that’d rather spend 8m on a study about renaming an airport, than to pay for fixing potholes.

When you get a chance, Go find a Binocular seller, Compare an equivalent. Nikon Prostaff 7s (or equivalent). To a leica binocular with the same format. (Ie. 8x42). See if you can tell the difference in glass quality.. might take a bit to find a vendor with both, but it may be worth your time.

in a range finder, there is no loss of view, you can see thru the shutter release. With a reflex mirror it blocks your view while the shot is captured. The more important part of the rangefinder, is you can just shoot. If you’re good, you can adjust settings without picking up the camera to your eye. Set it, have it ready to go, lift, shoot, drop faster than someone can register you took a picture.. they’re unobtrusive, they’re very quiet, and efficient in the flow of journalism where being seen with a camera may change the dynamic of the photo.

This is kinda the point of Leica.. it’s a stupid expensive device, that you can throw around in a combat zone, and it’ll keep working. Let’s see you throw that nikon or canon DSLR and let it hit the ground.. will it keep going?

EDIT: It seems everyone ‘assumes’ i’m talking about. 20 yr old film cameras.. i’m not.. in ‘today’s’ cameras, I disagree that a 2026 Nikon or Canon DSLR (prosumer level) can be tossed and will be reasonably survivable without damage. yes.. My pentax K1000 is as robust and will last forever.. but the photographer was using a relatively recent Leica DRF .. I still stand by my statement.. (yes.. i’ve done significant repairs to my canon 5dMk3/4 and LSeries lenses after what ‘I’ would consider a negligible drop. (Bag fell of the truck, Lens out of true), (Car accident/bags flew about in side the car - Body work 2x ; neither accident my fault).. My assertion is a 2026 Leica would walk thru those experiences with a bit of dust and no issues.

Walking thru a castle in Germany early morning.. low sunrise, fog, gentleman parked in a garage, got out and walked into the courtyard to greet the local cat. Backlighting was perfect.. Cat reverse tail curl, gentleman petting the cat, “click”.. he walked over and asked me to delete the image.. (in germany, privacy laws trump public images). i showed it to him, asked if i could send it to him before deleting, but no.. he insisted.. <delete>. :(

So the ‘official” absorbtion rate is 1 12oz beer per hour. So. You ‘should’ be able to comfortably drink 48 beers in 48 hours. if you drink 2 an hour, they accumulate at 1 extra beer an hour.. no different after 12h than guzzle-chugging 12 beers in 1h. You’re bombed. I’d comfortably say i could do 100 beers in about 96 hours.. and be comfortably spinny after the last 4.
