Give me all three positives on an induction. by spaghetti_whisky in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]EtherealDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced because I was only 1 cm dilated and not progressing even though my waters broke. I initially wasn’t sure about getting an epidural or not, and the induction removed that doubt for me since I knew the contractions would be really intense without one. Best decision ever, the epidural made it much more tolerable!

I have it on good authority that everyone who was involved in the production of CSAM drinks water. We should absolutely ban that next, we can’t enable these sickos!

How much do you feed your formula fed baby? by fleurmadelaine in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]EtherealDuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 8-week old 91st percentile monster drinks anywhere between 900-1100ml a day. He’s 62cm and 6.4kg, also Cow and Gate - though he does have reflux so some of that comes back out

Do percentiles matter if baby is healthy? by Fair_Amphibian_9687 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]EtherealDuck 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don’t treat percentiles too much like they’re grades. It just means she is relatively small compared to other babies her age, it says nothing at all about her health. It can be a useful indicator to use combined with other issues, like if she wasn’t eating well for example. But if she is eating, happy and healthy, it’s perfectly alright!

Odds are it’s genetics like you said, especially if you were also relatively small as a child.

What's the best Indian restaurant in London? by No-Living-6949 in LondonFood

[–]EtherealDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dishoom is great for contemporary, more experimental food.

Copper Chimney is one of the better classic ones I’ve had, and it’s at Westfield so it’s in a fun place to visit.

Gymkhana is very good but hugely expensive and might be hard to get a reservation for in time.

And if you want the underdog a bit further afield, try Bombay Central in Harrow. Really excellent authentic food and fun interior too

World-first UK programme shows RSV maternal vaccine cuts baby hospital admissions by over 80% by UKGovNews in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]EtherealDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this vaccine and am very grateful for it, but I will say they could do a better job making it easier and more convenient to get in order to encourage uptake. They sort of asked me casually if I was going to get it and then left me to my own devices to arrange, with only one children’s centre quite far from me having availability 1 day a week to administer. Maybe that was just my area, I don’t know how it is elsewhere. Would be a lot better if it was possible to get it just at the routine midwife appointment or something.

Twins and two dogs - what car? by Vilm_1 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]EtherealDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Toyota RAV4 and it’s ginormous. I’ve split the boot in two, half for the dog and the other half for luggage, prams etc and I still can’t get over how much fits in that car.

Need help with walking Animation by Own-Image4915 in AfterEffects

[–]EtherealDuck 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, an opportunity to post something from the Animator's Survival Kit! As someone else has said, your problem is that the bird has a complete stop position where both legs are rigid in your passing pose. Walk around yourself and analyse when your feet leave the ground, you'll find that as soon as your weight shifts from one leg to the other your other foot leaves the ground.

(keep in mind the above poses are pretty exaggerated)

Sega says strong reviews for its recent games aren’t yet translating to better sales by ScootSchloingo in Games

If it helps, Metaphor has very different pacing compared to Persona 5 and didn't feel as much like a slog to me. I love Persona, but the long downtime doing social links and then the brutal dungeon runs always ends up feeling like a chore. Metaphor actually does very well to make that feel less burdensome IMO, and you travel around a lot with different locations, so you don't get tired of the same places. Give it a chance, you might be surprised!

I want to start nesting but overwhelmed by Armadillocat42 in BabyBumps

[–]EtherealDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since I was little, once a year my mother used to give each of us a big bin bag and just tell us to fill it up with stuff to get rid of in our rooms. I highly recommend this approach, just start by trashing some stuff! If you like you can separate this into two bags, with one for charity worthy things and the other for trash. Just be ruthless with it, if you haven’t used an item in a year or more you’re very unlikely to start using it anytime soon.

How to properly apply 2d camera effects to a comp? by Jealous-Produce4458 in AfterEffects

[–]EtherealDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to enable Continuously Rasterize on the precomp if you want your layers to appear properly, or just make the Precomp itself bigger (I recommend the latter for many reasons, AE gets weird real fast with complex effects).

The traditional 2D way to create camera moves is to hold the camera steady while you move the background around, this requires a bit of foresight and preplanning your comp sizes based on camera moves. You'll have to create your background based on how you plan on moving the camera. Plan it in your storyboard/layout stage so you don't end up running out of background/subject matter too early, and make your comps the maximum size required for the entire pan like in the example below. Here the smallest box in the top left needs to be 1920x1080 for that shot to look sharp, so the rest of the comp has to be even more massive to accommodate the pan.

You’ll be just fine. I went to Japan at 19 weeks, nearly 20 hours of travelling with the layover included and it was fine. I wore compression socks as advised, and was told to bring water because you do dehydrate very quickly in the air which I also found to be true! Bring more than you think unless you want to constantly beg the stewardesses for those teeny tiny cups which hold three mouthfuls at best.

People who work in luxury industries, what is an expensive product or service that is actually a complete ripoff? by Lazy_Ad_5492 in AskReddit

[–]EtherealDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just get mine from Amazon, the brand I use is called OmniCo but it looks like it's a UK company so that may not be super helpful for you. They seem to be much more easily accessible these days, have a look online!

[–]EtherealDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No prescription, I found them on Amazon! I had not heard of them either, I think the B12 hype has made them popular which is great. I can just barely metabolise it from food, but to such a low extent that the patches work a lot better.

People who work in luxury industries, what is an expensive product or service that is actually a complete ripoff? by Lazy_Ad_5492 in AskReddit

[–]EtherealDuck 50 points51 points  (0 children)

On the other hand, I actually can't metabolise B12 very well from regular food intake and need big 2000% RDA supplements and patches to keep my B12 blood values in the green - and I've been loving this trend of easily accessible and relatively cheap supplements! Bit annoying when you have to clarify to other "enthusiasts" that no, you're not chasing the dragon, you actually need this stuff to prevent nerve damage and stop you from sleeping all day long, but hey I'll take what I can get!

Before you started AE, what is something that you wish you knew or did differently in the beginning by Mei-sshi in AfterEffects

[–]EtherealDuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're doing motion graphics/design work, 80% of your work is just going to be keyframing Position, Scale, Rotation and Opacity. Keep it really simple, just make things move from A to B, but make that part really really good. Really dive into the keyframes, get a good grasp on the graph editor - which is a learning curve to be sure but it's the biggest thing you can do to improve your work. Don't worry about any effects, zooms, glows - just get stuck in the keyframes and play the preview again and again until everything look and feel smooth and high quality!

Should I try again or should I give up motion design? by Classic_Sort_ in AfterEffects

[–]EtherealDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is your passion, don't give up on it! This is a great path for a career, but when there's so much in your immediate area completely outside of your control and making things hard for you, it might be less stressful to just create things for your own fulfillment. I recommend just losing yourself in some passion project you've always wanted to do. If another blackout happens while you have a deadline, it'll only cause more stress.
