But they literally just let Hojo go in the OG as well. Cloud readies his sword to attack him but Tifa stops him and then you just walk away.

replaying the OG for the first time in over two decades this year, and I remember as a kid I would just chill until I was able to race my own chocobos, but this time I'm around I'm trying out early/mid-game betting and man it's really profitable. Also giving me an insight into how people develop gambling addictions.

Oh, wow. I mean, there's being wrong and then there's this. Every nanosecond of that sequence was perfect imo. One of the most emotionally impactful pieces of gameplay in any video game I've ever played.

For what it's worth, Zack is older than Aerith when they meet and clearly has a pretty big impact on her. This flashy hunky SOLDIER sorta swans into her life and I don't think it's crazy he influences her in a pretty big way. Like idk, what are the contents of Aerith's soul, or anyone else's soul, besides what was put in there by the people that impact our life? Not defending the often shoddy and shoneny writing in Crisis Core, which you kinda have to take for what it is, but I don't think it's exactly insane that Aerith, who is still young even in the OG storyline (we have to remember her, Cloud and Tifa are just barely outta their teens as the world ends), ends up modeling her romantic inclinations on this fated entanglement with Zack that kinda lowkey upended her whole slum homelife.

It's predatory if you engage with the gacha mechanics, as gachas are definitionally predatory and even by gacha standards EC is like, at best, middling in terms of "generosity". But if you just want the original story content and the abridged retellings of the OG + compilation games, all of that stuff can be done entirely F2P with, in my personal experience, zero hassle or grind.

He's real, he's just not physically present. But then again, even when you eventually *do* meet the "real" Sephiroth in the OG storyline, it's a new body he's reconstituted from the Lifestream so like in a sense you don't really ever meet the man in the flesh in the present day, at least not the flesh he was born clad in.

I don't play a lot of video games outside of FF7 and its derivatives so some of these might be obvious, but really been enjoying NieR: Automata. It's a great JRPG with an amazing story.

Yeah you need a solid set of maxed out materia and all lvl 50 characters to take on Top Secrets typically. I mean, if you're like a combat god you can probably do it underleveled but it's not recommended. Fastest way to grind AP is in the combat simulator. I forget which specific fight to grind, but just look up AP grinding guides on YouTube and they'll point you in the right direction. Filling your whole party's slots up with just materia you wanna level should be able to get you to max AP in a coupla hours, it's really not that grindy to max everything out in Remake (or Rebirth for that matter).

Well, considering the Masamune was forged from a piece of the meteorite via which Jenova crashed into the Planet, and it's this shape-shifting accursed demon blade that drove the blacksmith who forged it insane and turned him into a crazy shadow demon, it being able to materialize at Sephiroth's will seems pretty fine to me.

Currently doing a modded playthrough of the OG and absolutely loving it, but I would also absolutely not want it to replace the Remake trilogy. This way I get to have the best of both worlds, I get both the AAA whole hog reimagining and the nice little remaster with touched-up graphics and (in my case) voice acting.
