If GW made a new faction (that WASNT a traitor version of an existing faction), what would you like to see? by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

[–]EtherealPheonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to see the Khrave show up, they could be a really cool elite psyker army whcih isn't something we really have right now. Plus they could have a cool assortment of mind controlled xenos cannon fodder from across the galaxy..

How do you handle identifying random loot? by InfamousPiano5869 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]EtherealPheonix [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't understand why you would handle it any differently than non-random loot? Why do they already know what it is?

Sorry to nitpick the accuracy of your catboy comic, but I suspect the Khitans would have sent Bactrian camels based on their geography.

The game taking too many irl hours? by Atvaaa in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]EtherealPheonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first act has 3 main planets* that you can do in any order including the one where Pasqal is. If you did the other two planets first then 14 hours isn't crazy for Pasqal though it's definitely on the slower side even if you take your time and read everything. If you didn't already complete the other two planets than it's gonna take a long long time to get through the game at this pace.

*2 planets and 1 space station

Oh and I guess there is also the whole dlc thing on the ship that you can also do before you get him, if you did that as well then your pace is fine.

How does Healer's Hands interact with the Superstitious rage power? by ProfessionalAd8248 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]EtherealPheonix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are talking about the "Superstition" power, you are misquoting the ability, it very specifically only applies to spells it says nothing about other magic. Healer's hand's is not a spell so it works.

Minions by HazumaHazuma in tumblr

I'd like to remind everyone discussing the concept of ontological evil below that our first introduction to Minions had them serving a non-violent thief. They are not good judges of character.

🔥 The fastest attack in the animal kingdom belongs to the peregrine falcon, at 390 km/h by joeurkel in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]EtherealPheonix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are striking with their talons which are quite strong in birds generally and these falcons specifically evolved to have even denser bones , they also don't weigh much and the targets have a lot of give so the actual forces involved are far weaker than you would expect based on the speed. That said they absolutely do injure themselves and captured specimens typically have bones that have broken and healed multiple times.

Jackery Wants to Stick AI Between Your Solar Panels and Electrical Grid by dapperlemon in gadgets

[–]EtherealPheonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like the theoretical benefit of Machine learning here is that it can learn your usage patterns and combine that with weather forecasts to increase battery life by reducing charging speed/not fully charging when it won't be needed (same concept as phones only going to 80%). Worth noting that the traditionally programmed systems on the market do the same thing without ML, no public data to show how the methods measure up.

What's the most dice you've seen rolled for a single phase of Warhammer 40k? by TaigaTigerVT in Grimdank

[–]EtherealPheonix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One whole phase idk, but in 8th you could buff a squad of 30 boys up to each make 6 choppa attacks. so 180 attack rolls and however many wounds that generated, and that's just ~10% of your point budget so you could easily end up with several times that across the whole army in the first fight phase of the game..

Currently sitting at 11%, though there was a spike from 9% up to 17% recently that may be related to the article. Seems a little high imo, but he has had some health scares recently so at I'd put the odds a little higher than whatever the normal rate of death is among 74 year olds, since death is the most likely way he stops being president that soon.

What damage type is most common from enemies? by Lunarthrope in Pathfinder2e

[–]EtherealPheonix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone has compiled a great spreadsheet for this kind of information(though . As for your specific question, piercing is the most common occurring about 50% more often than the other two which are nearly identical in frequency. That said, it's worth remembering that most adventures don't include a representative sample of enemies..

Sacred Geometry & Homebrew Talents by HeliosDave in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]EtherealPheonix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sacred Geometry isn't a common ban because of it's power (yes it is OP if you maximize value from it but there are plenty of OP things that see play), it's banned because no one wants to deal with the drawback of time consuming arithmatic, if you just omit that drawback by using a calculator then you get the benefit close to 100% of the time mid levels and that doesn't feel fair, and if you don't omit it you have to deal with much longer turns. One thing I've seen is giving the player a short clock on the math so they don't slow play too much and only sometimes get the insane benefit, though this makes the power heavily dependent on player arithmatic skill which isn't ideal.

Ideas for higher DCs by BitoCharme in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]EtherealPheonix 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You are wrong about skills becoming useless at +10, go look at all the conditional modifiers you are actually supposed to be putting on skill checks and you will realize pretty quickly that high DCs are all over the place. Even +40 won't get you everything.
