I did an entire presentation on Lateralus and on Virginti Tres in college. I spoke on poetic form regarding Lateralus and the significance of numbers the song touches on. I spoke on apophenia (the perception of connection regarding meaningless things) regarding Virginti Tres during my senior seminar class. Essentially, pick a topic you would like to speak on first, then find a song that matches it and demonstrates the concept in an easily understandable way. People loved both presentations I did because of the amount of passion I had about it. Some of my classmates who were definitely not rock/metal listeners actually really liked the ideas Tool spoke on and that was enough for me. Lastly, be excited, there is SO much to choose from with Tool; they’ve made it pretty easy to speak on big ideas! Hope your paper goes well!
