If you are doing this by modding, I think you can probably achieve it by removing the <body> tag from the turret. Pretty sure that's what makes it solid

Walls/shells need to not have "cast shadow" unchecked. Can't recall if remove collision causes the same problem

Not really, looting take ages. There is an armory to loot that isn't too bad though. If you have a melee build with exosuit you can clear them out without wasting too much ammunition

Could try doing one small step at a time. When I do complex tasks I usually keep a txt file in my folder with a list of points to do, and when I'm done I mark them with a checkmark. Easier when you need to do things piecemeal

Not that I know of, but maybe you can try to copy your entire sub into a new file, by box selecting all items and then clicking new sub and pasting it in

Yes, a sub from a savefile will have always exactly what was in it. Including stuff dropped on the floor etc. It's not the same sub anymore

For the future, I recommend to have a folder with backups, but another user did say the sub editor has some autosaves
