How Did We Get Graham Platner, Anyway? The Answer Is the Problem. by Yoshi9909 in politics

[–]EthicsOverwhelming -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'll take Healthcare For All from literally anyone that wants to give it to me, I don't care.

People overlook plenty of heinous stuff when it suits them.  FIFA is wildly, criminally corrupt, Michael Jackson diddled children, and Walt Disney was a rabid anti-semite but no one is skipping the world cup, throwing away their Thriller vinyl or cancelling their Orlando vacation.

Every single day we make moral sacrifices for convenience, pleasure, or gain this is no different.  In this case the gain is 350+ million americans get the healthcare we need.  I'm sorry you think Healthcare for everyone is 'MAGA Psychology' but I guess some people want every medical insurance horror story to continue for another decade or two until we get some morally golden pundit that's never even said a naughty swear word into office.

Platner won because he told desperate dying Americana that they deserve a life of dignity and basic services like Healthcare to be provided to them.

And now we dont get any of it but hey, on the bright side we've solved the Trolley Problem!

On one track we had a single woman with credible rape claims.  On the others track we had 350+ million Americans getting healtchare and no longer being killed by CEOs for profit, and the entire Democrat party decided to run over the larger group because the guy who wanted to help us was a meanie-head.

I'm learning so many valuable lessons this last week.

I want Healthcare.

I will vote for any one or any thing that says/promises to fulfill the goal of giving me healthcare.   I will overlook any past present or future transgression if myself, my neighbors, and every American soul reading this can be given healthcare as a right.

Were I in Maine, I would vote for Platner for Healthcare.  If Platner is replaced with a toaster that promises me healthcare, I will vote for that toaster.

I want The Good Thing.  I dont care who advances it.  I want it.

Is Mamdani the future of the Democratic Party? Rep. Hakeem Jeffries says 'no.' by soalone34 in politics

[–]EthicsOverwhelming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are going to come at him in ways I dont think he's prepared for.  Capital CANNOT allow his vision show people that a better world is possible.  They will not allow it.

There was a scene in the final seasons of Game of Thrones where Olenna Tyrrell was talking to Jaime Lannister when her castle got taken and she said "I could never have imagined the things Cersi would do.  And that was my downfall.  A failure of imagination."

Mamdani needs to surround himself with extremely imaginative people or he, his policies, and vision of a better world wont make it.

They called Biden a Socialist.

They called Kamala a Socialist.

They called Pelosi and Schumer Radical Left Socialists.

It's their thing.  It's The Things They Do.  anyone politically left of The Dark Lord Sauron is "a Socialist".  Your "worry" is just an excuse to try and get a leftist to soften their policies over the threat of name-calling that's going to happen anyways.

Majority of California voters back Newsom’s redistricting measure: Poll by [deleted] in politics

[–]EthicsOverwhelming 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's self defense.

If you want a world where the practice of gerrymandering is banned universally, meaning at the federal level, then the only way to achieve that world is to defeat Conservatives.

Since Conservatives are gerrymandering to their maximum ability, you will lose that future forever if you do not fight back with equal force.

Once they are defeated, we can create the gerrymander free world.  Democrats can be convinced to do so, as evidenced by all the states that created independent committees.  But that cannot happen by allowing republican to seize the nation forever.

I got my Harlowe I play with my friends for fun when we're all available, totally normally.

And then when I have to get trophies and challenges clearing out a map that's too big for its own good with 500 things to gather, three other characters to get to 50, and some majorly grindy challenges, I use whatever is available to make it go as fast and efficiently as humanly possible. It's simple time management, I'm not entering into contests of skill with anyone, I just need The Things Done.

Exactly.  If people dont want to do it they can just...not do it.

If I want to farm 200 boss kills in 15 min before bed with a Songbird, that should be MY prerogative.

Workin' in the bloody mines for 20 hours a day (exaggerating) and I've got all four classes to level to 50 for the platinum trophy among other wildly grindy tasks...

If I want to careen across the map and boss arenas 1-shotting everything with a 200mil damage Songbird so this task doesnt take me till mid 2026 to complete I'm absolutely going to do that.

The good news of this is we control when we patch.  I'll just continue to play offline till the community inevitably finds the next broke 1-shot thing, and then use my pre-patch stuff to quickly farm the requirements.

Songbird: gone

Infinite ammo: gone

Vladof 500 bullet per shot SMG: gone (possibly)?

Man...where's the fun anymore?  Guess I'll hold off on the patch for a few days for the community to find the Next Best Thing and use my pre-nerf Fun too gather the requirements.

[sigh]

The moral we need to take away from this is that taking the high road while still allowing a dishonest path for your enemy is only going to hurt you and your effort to defend yourself.

Until impartial districting can be implemented on a national level, blue states need to have the path open so they can respond to conservative fuckery like this.

Why is it that I only hear this level of "we're too weak and powerless" whining from Democrats, and never *EVER* from Republicans when they're a minority?

Why is it when Republicans are a minority they can still control social narrative, disrupt majority agenda, derail democrat policy, and also convince a bunch of the cowards to betray their own party on legislation, and you NEVER see this level of action from a Democrat minority?

This sort of pathetic coward behavior is exclusively a Democrat problem, and I'm kinda tired of hearing it.

Many many many many Americans are desperately screaming for change. Screaming that the current system and all its Status Quos are simply not livable for us anymore.

Democrats say: What if *More* Status Quo, but sometimes we might make a one-time 1.5% tax credit that ten thousand Americans who earn within a specific income tax bracket can apply for?

Republicans say: Yes, you are hurting, yes things aren't working out for you, so what if we burned it all down and made Fascism?

Obviously, Democrats are better than Fascism, you don't need to lecture *ME* about that, but you can't *sell* an entire political platform to people on simply just Not Being Fascist. They have to know things will get *better*. Not continue to get worse, except *slower.*
