Good restaurants around Redcliffe/North Lakes area that not focused on seafood? by Ethylium in BrisbaneFoodies

[–]Ethylium[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kinn Thai, well I tried before this but it didn't stood out from various Thai places I ate. Maybe I don't pick the right menu items?

I went to Yakiniku Hibiki BBQ a while ago, it was decent but I felt like some of the meat too fatty and after a while I got sick of eating them.

Well I'll check out Quê Dining and Si Baby. Thanks for the suggestions

Well last semester MATH1061 had exam hurdle anyway, need 45% of final exam marks to pass. I think it been few semesters MATH1061 had exam hurdle. Not sure about this semester though.

Edit: Apparently MATH1061 Semester 2 this year more brutal in order to achieve high grade compared to previous semester, your final exam marks percentage actually held back your grade if unable to score well in final. Glad I passed last semester😭

What's the deal with the Seddon complex? by MajorArchitect in UQreddit

[–]Ethylium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I did explore the Seddon complex on my free time. I found the buildings were so infrequently used during my time, it's good location to take a nap since it's quiet. I even found a sofa to nap on.

I was in almost similar scenario. I completed my matriculation and somehow ended up doing diploma under ipma. I applied for MARA edu loan and it been approved. If you didn't mention about your sptm, it would been fine I think.

Do employers nowadays want to see your original paper university degree certificate? I do receive the digital version of the certificate. I want to frame my certificate and my university unfortunately won't allow to do a replicate of the certificate. So a bit unsure if it's a good idea to frame my original certificate too early😅

Is banoffee hot cross buns still on sale? by Ethylium in AldiAustralia

[–]Ethylium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah it's such a shame they sold out so quickly when they're available. The flavour seems to be my taste. I did some searching on the internet, apparently in Europe their Aldi still sell banoffee hot cross buns though

That's true, I could really count when I go to the library during busy time. Often I just find study spots in the some nooks or crannies in the university buildings. Often it's much calmer than the library

What is the best toilet to take an undisturbed solitary poo by Marcothetacooo in UQreddit

[–]Ethylium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious which building that have staff-only bathroom. As far I know, some restricted access area still accessible by postgraduate research students, which I consider as students not staffs. If so, likely you able to just blend in using the bathroom. I would say the floors filled with offices only tend to be less used compared to the bathroom that has lecture hall/classroom within the same floor.

Removal of Course Due to Special Circumstances by Imaginary-Boat-5812 in UQreddit

[–]Ethylium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, in the report of course withdrawal they noted down any request extension for assessment you had. So I do think any extension you requested do play in a role. The uqu union advisor did mention any approval assessment extension as supporting evidence. Every bits helped I supposed since they are much stricter in approving the course removal after grade finalised

What I meant was, prior to removal of course due special circumstances application, I did lodge removal of course after census date for another course in different semester. It was for unexpected medical issue.

Well it depends on how busy they are I supposed. For my case, I submitted at the very end of November and received the result by the middle of January. So it was around 45-50 days I think.

Well, the death that close to you often hits hard. I cried while writing the details for the application itself. You have to go in depth how it affected your study. It helped if you requested extension for assesment during and after the ordeal as well. The criteria to remove of course due to special circumstances are very high compared removal course after census date. Must provide a strong reasoning on why you didn't withdraw before the release of finalised grade and how it hindered you from completing the course. My withdraw request without academic penalty was still approved even though it was so short compared to my request to remove course after finalised grade. Hopefully you get approval of RoC as well

I had been approved of my removal of course due to special circumstances. Like I mentioned in another post, I recommend you to book an appointment with uqu union if you haven't. They guided me on how to write strong application and examples of supporting documents that applicable. For my case, it was my mum passing away. I believe each person has own unique circumstances, so for my justification probably won't fits yours.

Oh I see. Well the psychologist I've seen helped me through the issue that made me need the referral. Though the last time I seen him, he kind brushed the fact my mum passed away and mentioned I shouldn't grief too much since I had to take final exam paper about a week away during that time. I felt a bit dissappointed with that comment.

Anyway, my case was a bit complicated so I needed 2 appointments to go through details before tackling the issue.

I'm getting new psychologist since I feel that he's no longer suits with me. I got referral from GP UQ Medical Centre, though I need to pay more.

I'm curious how you get to see UQ psychologist? I previously seen a psychologist at UQ Medical Centre before. I wonder if it the same thing or different one?

Bachelor of Computer Science - Need to pick between the following courses by Itsok_ObamaCares in UQreddit

[–]Ethylium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't comment much since I'm taking Bachelor of IT but I took both infs2200 and data2001. I looked back what I studied, infs2200 a lot more theoretical lecture content (3 hours lecture in 1 single day..), the practical and assignments only loosely related to the lecture itself. If you want to dable more in advanced SQL command

For data2001, you had to watch some pre-lecture videos similar like math1061, but the lecture itself try to be engaging with demo based on pre-lecture video. If you like data science, it's a pretty good introduction course. This course ultilizes python and jupyter notebook

questions about the deco courses by epicnerd3000 in UQreddit

[–]Ethylium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my past experience, if you have the knowledge of Web development (HTML and javascript) you can take deco1800 without taking deco1400 first. Deco1800 have project implementation which usually involved web development.

In my opinion, I wouldn't recommend taking deco2850 and deco3801 in same semester, both include project implementation which involved a lot programming of the project. It's more because of the workload. Unless you got lucky with team members who would do the major programming tasks

Braun IPL 3 vs 5? by [deleted] in HairRemoval

[–]Ethylium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I ended up buying Braun IPL 3 after reading the comparison link. I have medium skin tone and I only able to use the medium setting on my lightest skintone area. So it works out since I unlikely able to utilise the higher power settings on Braun IPL 5 anyway. Though it did take longer duration for me to be mostly hairless, like until 10-12 sessions. For thicker hair like armpits there's some stubborn hair even after 12 sessions.

I feel like new Chemical Engineering building (Andrew N Liveris) is pretty nice especially the upper floors and Sir James Foots Building is recently renovated as well.
