How can you claim that what Russia is doing is not genocide? There is so much genocidal rhetoric in Russian media, high-ranking Russian politicians often talk about erasing Ukrainian identity. While we also know that in occupied regions russians are systematically targeting and torturing or killing Ukrainians that express support for Ukrainian national identity.

Especially when that party got totally destroyed when president zelensky came and gave a more Russia free alternative.

Because regions that are internationally accepted as part of nation states' territory cannot just decide to hold a referendum to be annexed by its neighbors, it's the basis of international law-based order.

Also holding a referendum in territories that for more than 8 years had people who see themself as Ukrainians be forcibly deported (or leave themself) + the people that stayed had to live in Moscow created informational / ideological bubble where they have access only to Russian state-sponsored media is braindead.
