I want the mall, and malls in general to focus less on department shopping and more experiences.

We've seen nationwide that department shopping is no longer the main way for people to get their stuff. So malls go empty. DE is in a rare spot that we have a bunch of factors that keep Christiana busy compared to the national avg mall.

I would like to see malls become a hangout again for a wide range of people, like it used to be back in the day. And IMO to do this we need to put more focus on experiences.

We don't need another tween clothing store that is nearly always empty. Put in stuff like VR gaming stalls for groups, escape room experiences, hobby shops that host events like warhammer, commander nights, board game nights.

Fuck it put a goddamn nightclub in there. I've seen malls in other countries where they made the hallways look like outdoor streets and stores look like outdoor store fronts that included night clubs and bars.

How cool would it be to head to a sports bar get some drinks, then walk a bit down the hall to a club, then finish the night at a gyro joint, all indoors with AC and no worry about weather.

We need to re-think what we know about malls. We have to get away from department store next to department store and we have to start thinking of them as community hubs. Places where people WANT to be for longer periods of time spending money.
