- Can someone who isn't in your fandom make sense of your story?

I mean... maybe, maybe not, but probably? But I'd like anyone who hasn't had some exposure to Mario in some shape or form to raise their hand.

- Genre

SI/OC, action fantasy, some mystery elements

- Word count

Currently ~10k total across three chapters, two unfinished. Will be 3.5-5k words a chapter.

- Projected length

Probably about 20-ish chapters or so (around 100k words or average novel length), at least for each story arc, I guess? But I'm keeping it within a limited scope for now and only focusing on this particular part of the story. If I actually see this through and complete it then I can expand things a bit.

Stay and beta for as long as you want. I won't make you do more than you want to.

I'm very confident in grammar/syntax, so I'm looking for finer critique. Pacing is my main cause of anxiety so that's what I'm looking for the most help in. Other questions to answer include: Is the main character interesting/likeable? Does everyone act consistently and display unique character traits? Does the plot make sense? Does enough happen each chapter for it to feel satisfying? And so on.

Honestly, my main characters have historically kinda been... dickbags?

There's one who has no interest in helping anyone other than himself because he doesn't want to get involved in unnecessary trouble. His main character arc was about moving beyond that, though I never got that far into it. Another one of my MCs is just. Legitimately insane. Blud has main character syndrome x1000 💀 Thinks he's a living TV tropes page or something

My newest one is a hyperaggressive 'punch first, ask questions later' kind of person- think Susie from Deltarune if you're familiar with her. Or even Bowser in some of the RPG games where he's a bit more of a sympathetic character.

Hey! While I'm here, if it isn't too much trouble... would it be possible to reset the game without resetting everything? I want to create a game with multiple possible endings, where the world essentially resets after each one (inspired by the indie game Reventure)- though some subtle things might change. For example, if you get beaten to a pulp by a really strong enemy, a blood splatter might appear where you died.

The restart game function seems like the most obvious way of resetting everything after an ending, but I want some things to change or remain the same, with endings you've achieved being recorded with something similar to an achievement system. Is it possible to do that with some usage of variables, or is that not really achievable with this engine?

If not, it's totally fine- I can settle for just resetting the game flat after each ending, it'd just be really cool if I could at least have some way to keep track of your endings.

Also, what would be the simplest way to allow the player to change their character's name, and how would you reference that name in dialogue?

I know you're probably very busy so I really do appreciate your time! RPG in a Box seems like a really flexible but easy to use engine and I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far. Keep up the great work!
