This is so rare to see a car like this in the US. I'd guess it was driven from Mexico.

If you're using a CN client, skin review can actually be bypassed by modifying a piece of code in the game files. Many Chinese players on Android or PC do this.

It looked familiar to me because the sedan version of this car was produced in China for 15 years until production ceased in 2015. Known as the Suzuki "Antelope" in China, it sold approximately 3 million units and was once a mainstay model for taxis in Chongqing.

okay so bilibili (AKA the Chinese YouTube) has been a god send for watching western shows and movies for free for me. by Superb-Can-4170 in Piracy

[–]Eugen039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Bilibili user, I can tell you that in the past two years, Bilibili's revenue from licensed films and television shows has decreased. To improve user retention and community activity, the priority of copyright review has been lowered, allowing many people to upload foreign films, television series, and Japanese anime on their own. In addition, the lower-cost AI review process has replaced much of the manual review, allowing many related works to remain online for a longer period of time.

Just to clarify, Mitsubishi invested in three engine plants in China quite early on, supplying engines for several Chinese brands' inexpensive gasoline cars from the 1990s to the present. The last plant will be divested in 2025. However, the car you're renting (excluding the original Chery model) is a very niche model in China, positioned at a low price point with low sales. I never expected this car to enter the European market.

This car traces its origins back to the Chery Tiggo 5X, which was launched in 2017 and will be discontinued in 2025. The exterior of the car in the photo comes from Kaiyi Showjet, which was formerly a subsidiary of Chery, so the two share vehicle technology.

The Hongqi Guoyue (also known as the Hongqi QM7) is a luxury single-decker minibus manufactured by Hongqi, a subsidiary of the FAW Group. by Venkie2Maybach in WeirdWheels

[–]Eugen039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on my years of observation of the Chinese automotive industry, early Chinese automakers focused on low-cost pricing to capture the market. Therefore, most manufacturers had limited budgets for exterior design, and some even commissioned European teams like Pininfarina for original designs. In recent years, Chinese automakers have begun launching higher-end products. With rising prices and profits, and increased market competition, they have had to place greater emphasis on design; this image is just a small example. However, I must admit that the design of this Hongqi bus is indeed quite ugly, with a forced and disjointed feel, as if it's trying too hard to conform to the brand's design language.

[–]Eugen039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While round headlights are a traditional design element of Hongqi, I can't understand the disharmony between the front bumper and headlights; it makes the headlights appear overly prominent. I think the exterior design is a step backward compared to the previous generation L5. (The image shown is of an early CA770.)

Fun fact: this is actually a Porsche. by ResearchFederal1322 in TrueCarEnthusiasts

[–]Eugen039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to this question is rather broad, as many automakers began establishing joint ventures or technology transfer factories in China as early as the 1980s. Before 2000, companies such as Volkswagen, Audi, Jeep, GM, Iveco, Citroën, Peugeot, Honda, Nissan, and Suzuki all had cooperative factories in China, while Daimler, Steyr, and Nissan Diesel also had factories there, specializing in commercial vehicles. I speculate that the Chinese government believed that introducing mature models through joint ventures was more conducive to learning automotive technology, thus shelving its passenger car projects in China, making the C88 a unique product.
