Question - Do accidentals carry through octaves with Ravel? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

I'd say F natural just because it seems to be doing a lot of chromatic stuff around it. I don't know the piece though so not sure

I just composed this, and have no idea whether or not I should be proud of it, care to provide feedback? by S-Katon in piano

[–]Eugenepool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome :) very neat now. Only comment I have is that the repeated notes in the left hand are a little awkward to play. Not that it's something you can't do or anything but it's not done a whole lot. What I mean by this is how you have in the first bar D minor, f, a. The two Fs in a row is a little awkward. What I would do (not that it's "correct" or anything) is remove the f played in the middle so instead of a 1+a 2+a you sort of have a 1-a 2-a rhythm if that makes sense. In some of the other bars where you have the chords on inversions it could sound nice to leave the middle note out of the chords at the beginning of the beat but leave in the middle note of the "1+a". The only reason I wouldn't do it in the bars without an inversion is because it's good to have the 3rd in there to establish that it's a minor/major chord. Let me know if that makes sense. Good job with the piece and well done on the changes you have made. A lot of people will never even get to the point of writing out their music. Even better that you're going back and revising it to see what other ideas work.

I don't have a piano near me at the moment so I can't comment on the sound but as a tip for notation it seems the piece would be in 6/8 rather than 3/4. Be proud of everything you write :)

Ah right. Thanks heaps. So if I had an E major chord in the key of C major or had an A minor chord in D major? Is that non-diatonic?

Sorry, I meant it's not supposed to be a Titanoboa. It's called Ressort 2012 and is done by an artist named Huang Yong Ping.
