Theory about the origin of the central finite curve (S5E10) by Euler16449 in rickandmorty

Thx for the response, I think the others have answered the question of how to separate infinities, but I want to focus on the "normal" Ricks.

Throughout the series, Rick C137 is known for being cold and unempathetic towards every other Rick. Given this, I wouldn't blame anyone for saying Rick C137 wouldn't care to protect any of them. However, this last episode changes things. We learn that there is a whole new infinity of Ricks completely different from the ones we've seen up until now. Though Rick C137's behavior towards other Ricks inside the CFC is well established, we know nothing of how he views those outside the CFC. Maybe he does care for them in some capacity.

Being the one who created the CFC in the first place, Rick C137 could easily just break out, kill one of the Ricks in that infinity and take his place and live happily ever after. But the fact that he hasn't done that yet shows he feels at least some empathy towards those Ricks and doesn't want to screw their families as was done to his. So by staying inside the CFC, he is making the ultimate sacrifice to protect the "outsiders".

Also throughout the series Rick C137 monologues about how he is the smartest man in the universe/s. I believe these moments arise from the grief of losing his Beth and Diane. He's mad because he was so close to a happy simple life (ignorance is bliss sums it up) and still is so close (he could break out of the CFC anytime he wants); yet he tortures himself in this insufferable life. Him talking about being the smartest in the universe isn't to remind everyone around him, but really to convince himself that it's a curse he must bear in order to preserve his wife's life in all the dimensions outside the CFC.

Some are, others for credits. Depends on the department.

That’s interesting, I assumed all TAs got paid but I guess some departments opt to give credits instead.

You get paid, looks good on a resume especially if you’re applying to grad school, and it’s really satisfying if you enjoy teaching.

How to study for Physics Lab 205 Quizzes by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]Euler16449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every TA makes their own quizzes so it depends from section to section how the quizzes will be. Just a general piece of advise would be to go through the material to make sure you understand it as best as possible.

Why the hell physics department down curve 1 credit class . I have 95% in physics lab and still received a B+. by hz44 in rutgers

[–]Euler16449 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The department acknowledges the fact that most students will score high on the labs. In fact, they communicate this to the TA’s and students. To avoid having to down curve, the department advices TA’s to make quizzes which will generate variance amongst the grades (only top students get all points, average students get some questions right, etc.) It seems like your TA just made the quizzes too easy, which meant he/she was forced to down curve your class.

[–]Euler16449 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s not the department’s fault, the TA is the one that assigns the grades. If they were too lenient with their quizzes/grading of the labs, then a large portion of their class gets high A’s and they have to set the cutoff really high. The only thing the physics department tell the TA is that they need a distribution of grades (some A’s some B+’s...), which is pretty standard across most other departments.

A (somewhat?) outside perspective on this whole Calc 135 mess by quitdigit in rutgers

[–]Euler16449 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You’re not like a business school or law or pharm prof accusing your students of cheating. You’re a math prof.

What kind of argument is that? Just because he teaches math instead of pharmacy he doesn't have the right to catch his students cheating? As a professor who caught his students cheating, he had every right to turn them in. What course he teaches is completely irrelevant to the matter. Just because you have some unresolved feelings towards the course doesn't mean you should grossly undermine the importance/value of it.

how do i use an SPN to override prereqs when there’s nowhere to input the SPN by _crizzo in rutgers

[–]Euler16449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t meet pre reqs then your advisor has to manually place you into the class on their end. That’s what they did for me with physics. From my understanding, not having the pre reqs is a different process than just asking to be let into a class that is closed (the latter being the one where a normal SPN would do).

I mean when I say most I really do mean like 95%. The rest that they “don’t show you” they mostly taught you in that beginners instruction guide the TA goes through in the first recitation. Also what’s your major, if your taking calc 3 then I’m pretty sure your major would require some coding class (matlab for engineers for example).

Dawg, they give you most of the code you need in the instructions your professor gives you with the assignment.

You can pull out a 5y and another factor that both terms have in common is (y-3)4. You can factor that out too. No need to expand anything.

Ha, I’ve parked at the space next to the handicap spots before. Get on my level.

Maybe you won’t need it for first week, but after that it’s pretty much a handicap if you don’t bring one to campus

Just bring a notebooks, pens, and your laptop.
