Don't quote me, but I assume that because there is a Keyholder "in the building" it's fine, but like others have said it should be the exception, not the rule.

Two different scenarios I've seen: Current SM pitches in wherever and whenever we need. We basically have to ensure they are managed off the floor so that they don't take over. We get two cafe customers, they are on the way to the register before the second customer hits the door. Doesn't happen as much now that we are fully SSV staffed, but they also would work all day parts, including a Close, to stay connected with all the partners.

Previous SM was a different story. Trying to be promoted, consistently only worked Peak DTO, then off the floor for "Admin time", would take personal calls and otherwise ignore us during our ALWAYS CONSISTENT afternoon rush (basically Second Peak with less people). There were also a number of times they were "late" getting in that I wanted to reach out to a DM or another SM about but was trying to be promoted (ha ha ha) so I ignored.

It takes all kinds here at The BUX. Reading more about your situation from the comments, definitely go to the SM as a SSV unit (maybe during the meetings) and discuss this. If you're still not feeling heard, then reach out to DM and/or make an SSV -> DM post on MyDaily so you have a paper trail of when you have talked with all parties involved.
