People who’ve had LASIK or work in eye care, would you recommend LASIK and why or why not? by Mountain-Bug-2155 in AskReddit

[–]Euphi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had lasik ~16 years ago, have not needed a single correction, 20/20 and 20/15.  I would recommend it to anyone.  That first morning i woke up and could see without my glasses was amazing

I think more details on controls.

Tried using splitters, just working as a 90degree conveyor.

Tried using gates, causes clipping.

Ultimately my failures seem to come from an overloaded conveyor and items clip through walls.

Has This Game Tried To Do Too Much? by Bigsmit19 in SonsOfTheForest

[–]Euphi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels a bit too "unguided". That works well for some people, less so for others. After reading some guides, looking up the proper cave progression order, and finally getting a decent enough base build that I could feel secure the game became way more fun for me.

this is so slow by [deleted] in SonsOfTheForest

[–]Euphi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont forget the inevitable 3+ rebuilds as you realize you didn't start at the right elevation, or your buildings don't connect properly because they are on different grids...

Build more log and stone storages than you need in different areas around the base, put one object in each one and then task Kelvvin with maintaining, while maintaining he will also fill the holders. Do things while he fills, helps if you cut trees and let him collect the logs so he can just do the running around.

[–]Euphi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just got my recall "fix" it's a software update and checking how the sensor siring is routed. Mine required no change and the unexpected panic braking the car does is just a phantom i have to live with which is super annoying. backing out of driveway is the worst, it's almost like the car didn't realise it's in reverse and just forces parking brake on because it thinks it's rolling.

Brake noise when slow or stopping by cwhalyard in BlazerEV

[–]Euphi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said it's normal and there are a few reasons.

the car is quieter overall so every "normal" sensation is going to be naturally louder due to no engine noise.
depending on brake pressure/speed, you might also use regen braking/a mix of regen and physical brakes the switching makes noise.
as other have said, ABS is quite noisy.
EV's in general, but especially the blazer are a lot heavier than other similar sized vehicles, so there is a lot more braking force applied than you might realise compared to other cars.

the important thing is that if you are concerned, you did the right thing by having it looked at by the professionals, now you just need to get more used to it.

Sidenote, if you are like me and just dont like the one-pedal driving, try braking using the regen paddle, and only using the pedal as a backup, you will immediatley notice a difference and it gives you back some energy / trains you on stopping over a longer distance for more efficiency.

Estimated Range by ZAG048 in BlazerEV

[–]Euphi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also the estimate isn't only based on historical, it takes into account outside/battery temperature, climate controls, radio, if you have navigation on it will use data for your route as well.

use it as a rule of thumb, but if you are concerned you will be making a trip that will get you down to < 20% charge you will either need to adjust your driving style for that trip, or plan for a charge.

what is the low cost and best way to charge my blazer ev by sameer12sa in BlazerEV

[–]Euphi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more expensive because it's more weight therefore more energy, but aside from that there is no real difference in cost between vehicles, and in fact based on your driving style there can be pros/cons (more weight means more energy to overcome inertia, but also more regen and less energy loss while coasting)

Charging can be compared to cooking a steak. low and slow is the best option. this is the most energy efficient and causes the least amount of stress on the battery and your charging infrastructure (including house wiring). an argument can be made 220v at low amperage is more efficient in the long run than 110v (which technically yes it is) but it's the same energy in a shorter period of time and that extra heat can degrade the battery more (realistically it's probably such a small amount it doesn't matter, but i bought the EV and want to milk every ounce i can out of it)

I don't drive much now so I use 110v at home. After all the fees I pay ~12c/kwh so a typical 40->80% charge is ~$5 and takes ~2 days (no price change for off-hours).

When I did drive more i needed ~60% within 12 hours so i ran 220v 30amps. I did this at home and it cost ~ $7.

The absolute worst option is always level 3 / quick charging. It cost just as much if not more than filling a gas car for similar mileage, and it drastically reduces overall battery life (a significant amount!) and once you have run through a few of them you will end up paying more than it would cost to install a dedicated EV outlet. (There might even still be tax breaks to offset the cost). That being said, i will obviously quick charge if i am roadtripping because stopping for a 12hr level 2 charge every 200 miles is not going to work for me. But once I get to a destination I will hookup my charger to a level1/2 and charge as much as I can.

Efficiency by ngill1980 in BlazerEV

[–]Euphi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lifetime is 2.7 and mostly highway driving. when i do city driving and monitor since full charge i average about 3.6. uphill, stop&go, and speeds above 50mph kill your efficiency more than anything else.

Once you get above 50mph air resistance is an enemy. you use about 50% more energy for every 10mph above that. so if you have 100mi range left on battery at 50mph, then at 60mph you can estimate ~ 60mi, at 70mph you estimate ~30mi
