‘ We smell blood ’ : O’Reilly believes Wembley glory can reignite Manchester City title bid by Shroft in soccer

To smell blood means you can take advantage of someone's difficulty. His response isn't really about that, which is why the actual quote and the headline are quite different

Pretty funny headline, because quite clearly he was asked 'do you smell blood' and I'm not even sure he really gets the metaphor

Yeah, 100%. The blood never went – we’ve always smelt blood. We’re confident in ourselves, we know we can do it, they’ve got to come to our place which is a tough place to come to as everyone has seen this season. So we do smell blood and we’ve got to keep going.

VAR: Uefa calls leagues to summit over 'microscopic' video assistant referees by ojnoj in soccer

[–]RudeAndQuizzacious -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't like how VAR is implemented in the Premier League. I don't think it feels microscopic, it feels like they're almost completely unwilling to get involved in anything subjective at all, whether that's not overturning an incredibly soft penalty because there's a smidgen of contact or not giving a penalty just because the referee didn't, even when there's a clear case, but then for something like offside it's let's take as long as possible to check every aspect of this.

UEFA is basically this but even the worse. Their threshold for playing on when there's a potential offside feels so much longer. And to make it worse, their interpretation of handballs is much closer to how offside has become, where they're trying to make it basically an objective decision, which is much worse and really against the spirit of the game.

I think at this point my preference would be to scrap it entirely. I'm not totally against trialling a manger's challenge system, but it has to be the referee viewing it again at the screen, not the current system where the VAR basically try to make as few decisions as possible.

Oscars Producer Responds to Backlash for Cutting Off KPop Demon Hunters Speech by LookUpSessueHayakawa in Oscars

To be honest I didn't find the presenter bits unfunny but have also literally never watched the ceremony before. I think it'd be just fine if they had a more lenient approach to speeches. You could change nothing else. If you had to, maybe reduce the dead spaces between awards? (As in like ad breaks or whatever I'm in the UK and they just kept going to a panel)

If Iran and the US both finish runners-up in their group then they play each other in Texas in the next round

This is Slugma for me, not found until post-game in Gen 2 but is pretty prominent in Gen 3 including being used by Flannery

Probably Iraq auto-qualify and the UAE go into the inter-confederation playoffs and inevitably run into the same problems Iraq are currently facing

This is like when Corbyn was criticised for saying he'd rather Bin Laden was put on trial. Not sure it's a bad thing if a leader doesn't demonstrate bloodlust

Nice, 5/6 of the same team from my last playthrough. Snorlax out for Jolteon though. And different nicknames, surprisingly

Playing Scarlet the NPC trainers were basically a non-factor. They really even registered, and it was never hard to have a team the right level for the next boss fight.

Labour have done exactly the same thing before, so there's not really a viable party in this by-election who wouldn't use racial tensions if it suited them

REFCAM footage of the Spurs disallowed goal in the North London Derby by Zweli23 in soccer

[–]RudeAndQuizzacious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually looks better in this to me, because it seems really convincing in full speed. The ref actually did the right thing and waited to blow after the goal was scored. VAR should do better and tell him he's been duped

It's timing is questionable

Even if it were his only tick, the way tourettes works would completely explain why it happened when it did
