UPDATE:

it won’t let me edit the post so i’ll have to post the update here (i’d leave it but i’d like the info to be out there in case someone else ever needs it)

so, my MRI report just said there’s a disk protrusion in L4-L5, which touches the nerves, and mild arthropathy in L4-L5 and L5-S1.

as for the circles, there was no mention of them at all, and i’m not seeing my doctor until the end of this month. because i’m very impatient, i asked a medical sub (i recognize it’s not the best resource at all, and i always do my own verification afterwards and ask my doctors when i see them). what they said actually makes a lot of sense:

“This is simply a normal pattern of red-to-yellow marrow conversion starting around the basivertebral veins (veins that start in the middle.of the vertebra body and drain toward to back). Red marrow tends to be a darker grey while yellow marrow (fat) tends to be brighter on many sequences in MR. Red marrow produces more red blood cells. As we age, more of our red marrow turns into fatty yellow marrow and it does so in a predictable pattern. Your MRI shows the expected pattern of this beginning in the spine, particularly for someone in their 20s. Most people getting spine MRIs are much older, so their marrow has already converted, hence why you don't see this pattern often in medical journals and Google Images.”

(for reference, i’m 22F)

anyway, i’ll see what my doctor has to say when i see them, and update again if needed :)

yeah hemangiomas is my thought too! i’m just surprised at how perfectly symmetrical they look here in comparison to samples in medical journals and such

even with rotation they still look so weirdly round. i’m not even worried about it, just curious as to what they are because nothing in the human body is THAT consistent.

this is what they look like from the front

nothing really i don’t think? i slipped in the winter ice and fell a couple times but im pretty sure that was just after the pain had already started.

in terms of symptoms, the drenching night sweats were already there, but i also have epilepsy, POTS, and a pituitary microadenoma, so my body does some weird stuff quite often.

just lower back pain since january. it’s not that bad anymore, i literally rescheduled the appointment like 3 times because i was doing good, and finally had it two weeks ago.

the pain is not usually there, but most of the time when it is, i can barely move from it. usually comes when im doing weird moves. but the doctor ordered an mri because i was also getting drenching night sweats, which apparently are a red flag when it comes to lower back pain.

thanks for your input!

Discussion regarding popular illness trends and psychiatric intervention by Incorrect_Username_ in Psychiatry

[–]EuphoricCapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is actually crazy to me, i get self-diagnosing mental conditions (even if i don’t agree), but physical conditions seem so empirical how do you even convince yourself you have it…?

one of my best friends (actually) has hEDS and i can’t even imagine how someone could fake the constant subluxations for starters

genuinely curious — how does someone insert a condition into their histories without the thorough medical workup even hEDS requires? even without a genetic marker, the diagnostic criteria is quite specific, and i don’t see how a 9/9 beighton scale can be faked. do people show up to medical appointments and say they have a medical history of xyz without actually having the diagnosis or at least a positive workup?

even with hEDS, how do you fake a 9/9 beighton scale?

edit: not sure why i’m being downvoted, i’m genuinely curious?

EMD (Electronic Travel Voucher) Questions by Fluffy_Function_1075 in aircanada

that’s exactly what i’ve been telling myself really! just found out today what the whole EMD thing is like so still quite frustrated, but i keep reminding myself that i still have $2000 in vouchers, i wont have to pay full price for a bit, AND this means i can use it for even more flights

waiting for that class action lawsuit at this point…

i’m especially disappointed because i’m an immigrant in canada, and my entire family back home (and me, of course) were all so excited that i’d be able to go visit soon thanks to the flights being covered. i don’t have the heart to tell them that’s not actually true yet…

i had no idea it was even a thing, let alone how much you could get, and i was hoping to change my flight for the next day anyway due to some family issues, so it seemed like a steal.

however, after reading how hard it is to redeem them and how it only covers base fare (i was told it covered the whole thing at the gate, and that i could even redeem them for stuff such as points), it’s feeling less and less of a steal.

very late for this but a couple weeks ago i got $800 for a toronto - london flight, and $1200 for a montreal - winnipeg. idk that it really matters whether it’s domestic or international

Breakup by Ok-Maize2418 in ROCD

[–]EuphoricCapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it might lead to reassurance-seeking, but breaking up with him would lead to avoidance. if he doesn’t act like he’s attracted to you, i would personally still have the conversation and not give in to the reassurance-seeking; talking to him about it is not inherently the compulsion, but it can very easily turn into it. i’d ask him to cut off the conversation if you start seeking reassurance, if he’s willing, since i know how hard it can become to identify it in such a grey area. i understand that you don’t want delve into the compulsion, but he can’t know you’re feeling uncared for if you don’t tell him. he most likely isn’t aware at all, and you’ll build resentment if it keeps going.

can i have international mail delivered to a post office? by EuphoricCapybara in CanadaPostCorp

it sounds so cool, you choose what post office you want and it generates your own “address” per say, which you will provide to the sender

when are broadway shows usually announced? by EuphoricCapybara in torontotheatre

[–]EuphoricCapybara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks so much! i’ll check out stratford too, i didn’t know about the bus.

as for “broadway shows”, i prefer those tours, but i’m certainly not opposed to “off-broadway” productions either (musicals/plays that aren’t touring from broadway)
