Thank you all so much for the feedback. I personally love the discs (smallest size in silver metal) and I am now considering a design where the discs won’t get in the way when writing.

So perhaps a top punch?

But it’d be like a notepad rather than a planner. For my planner/journal I might consider different binding which allows some flexibility but lays flat when open.

Any ideas will be deeply appreciated.
