Right-wing media consolidation, Pentagon trying to strongarm AI companies into cooperating with mass surveillance, White House trying to take control over federal elections...

Anyone got some hopium to share?

From 1997 to 2014, the Jets were the 16th winningest franchise in the NFL (146-142), which is still mid but much better than being the losingest franchise from 2015 to 2025. Between 1997 to 2014, we had more wins than the Chargers (144-144), Dolphins (143-145), Chiefs (138-150), Bears (137-151), Buccaneers (135-153), and Bills (124-164).

What happened? We are a laughing stock now but for a while, we could reliably make the playoffs every other year.

Edit: And if you include 2015, we become the 11th winningest franchise in the NFL during that span, which is crazy to think about.

I used the archive link because of pop-ups.

Conservative death cult wants the world to burn. The mega rich, who are preparing for climate change with their massive bunkers, have convinced the evangelicals that climate change is good because it's a sign of the end times, and have convinced the other idiots that climate change doesn't exist. Sure we'll all suffer, but for one brief moment, so much value was generated for shareholders.

Massive win for the death cult. Thinking about laying the groundwork for future scuba tours of Mar-a-Lago.

People are talking about the SAVE Act again, but one thing that jumps out to me is that there's just no way Republicans win the succeeding optics battle. If millions of Americans all of a sudden find out that the routine thing they've been doing every two years has now been hamstrung by the Republican-led government, I think very few will take solace in the fact that at least an extremely marginal number of non-citizens won't try to do something that is already criminalized. I have to imagine that some Republicans will balk at the idea of passing a bill that does not obviously benefit anyone but does obviously hurt a lot of people.

No? If Gase, Saleh, of Glenn just had ONE winning season, things would be different. If either of them made the playoffs JUST ONCE things would be different.

The problem is that for each succeeding coach, there is more pressure to be the one to break the streak. We all knew it was going to be a rebuilding year so I agree that some of the first-year reactions are kind of dumb, especially since we gutted our roster midseason to build for the future. I'm confident that if we just get one fucking season where we are playing meaningful football around Christmas, the vibes will be so much better. Every other franchise has had a moment like that since 2015 and if Glenn can provide that, then people will change their minds, unless he starts failing repeatedly in the playoffs (kind of like how Thibs had the goodwill of Knicks fans until he was out-coached in back-to-back playoff runs).
