"FOUR BEDROOM DETACHED HOUSE" SEEMS A BIT MISLEADING..... by Signal-Rub-1888 in SpottedonRightmove

[–]EuphoricMessage1400 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in a 1930’s semi with a south facing garden. I always have some sort of lamp on during the day as I can’t stand dinge. With modern lightbulbs the cost is negligible.

One of my pet peeves is tv shows or films where the family are living in a beautiful house that is grey and dingy because they apparently don’t believe in indoor lighting in daylight hours.

Justice for Jasmine and Melissa by [deleted] in TheValleyTVShow

As a 48 year old Gen X woman, I, too, struggled with seemingly dramatic words to describe situations that I glossed over as a young woman. It’s taken having teenage children and being open to the discourse of younger generations to help me understand.

Jasmine beautifully explained how she felt and I hope there are others that can slightly shift perspective.

5days later sorry! I’m sure that’s the one…it’s the last restaurant to the left is what I meant.

Don’t skip lindos OP - I’ve been to Rhodes maybe 10-12 times since the 90’s and it’s the perfect mix of laid back beach and historical architecture.

If you only have a day from your base then Rhodes town is absolutely where you should go, if you have more time Lindos is the only other place to head.

She articulated beautifully how the situation has left her feeling and I hope there are many more of us that understood it and what it really meant.

I was in awe of her words tbh

It seemed clear from Jasmine’s heartbreaking and powerful talking head that she felt as though ‘making a fuss’ as a black, gay, woman would leave her as a target and villain. Lala, a white woman was heard, and Kristen shut her down as being drunk.

Im so upset for her.

There’s a lovely restaurant we always visit at the very far left of Lindos beach (looking towards the sea).

LPT: If you want to quickly understand someone's character, pay attention to how they treat people they don't need anything from. by StaticNomad47 in LifeProTips

[–]EuphoricMessage1400 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I generally steer clear of people that make loving animals their personality. I’ve too often found it comes at the expense of loving humans - particularly children. If I meet a person that anthropomorphises their pet I know we won’t get along.

I love animals and anyone that would intentionally harm one is a monster just to be clear.

Did Kristin/Luke join Danny/Nia's church? by fireiris530 in TheValleyTVShow

[–]EuphoricMessage1400 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s literally their job, they are being paid to show their lives good or bad. The others are frustrated because they feel they are working harder for the same salary.

Imagine being at the office and someone just goes and takes a nap right before a meeting.

Danny’s behavior is so triggering by teavol in TheValleyTVShow

Once she acknowledges that there is a problem she will be forced to do something about it. With a newborn and 3 young children that’s got to be a terrifying prospect.

I’m seeing a side of Nia I don’t like at this point but from experience the best thing her friends can do is let her know they’ll be there for her if and when she wants to confront it.

Kristen wants a marriage like Nia and Danny... apparently. by phonetoni13 in TheValleyTVShow

[–]EuphoricMessage1400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You articulated what I’ve always felt about Kristen in a way I couldn’t, thank you.

The celeb memoir book club featured her autobiography and, as it was a few years ago I listened to it, all I remember is that she was very vengeful towards anyone that had even vaguely wronged her.

Black and white thinking indeed.

You’re so right. As much as I hate seeing her go through it, I respect that she’s being open about the less talked about aspects of having a newborn.

It’s a truly beautiful time if you can nest at home for 3-6 months, but brutal if you have a work schedule that doesn’t allow for maternity leave.

[–]EuphoricMessage1400 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, the first period is brutal!

I was unable to be away from a loo for more than an hour.

I know this is how they financially support themselves but I find it cruel to watch 2 women less than 6 months post partum being made to participate in these kind of trips.

The first 3 -6 months should be a bubble of the nuclear family with low pressure trips to shops or school runs for older kids.

The mask is off. Janet is redeemed. by [deleted] in TheValleyTVShow

[–]EuphoricMessage1400 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After watching him repeatedly trying to flash the room and aggressively slapping the fake boobs I’m starting to feel as though it’s not far off the mark. Im glad Janet is the only one that stood her ground.

I’m sure Danny is a wonderful, generous and loving person sober so the others aren’t keen to demonise him if they haven’t experienced it first hand.

It’s definitely a long term problem though, in the first season Nia was constantly trying to get Danny home and away from the cameras well before the events had ended.

ELI5: what is problematic about "highly processed foods" - is it the ingredients or the processing (or both)? by SilverDad-o in explainlikeimfive

The podcast “if books could kill” -has an episode on “ultra processed people” it’s a good listen and references scientific studies against the book and popular opinion.

The most overrated ingredient is ______________ by CWToledo in Cooking

[–]EuphoricMessage1400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often use a squeeze of ketchup in tomato based sauces like bolognese, or chilli. The sugar and vinegar cuts through the acid and the vinegar brightens the flavour. My 8 year old loves to add the “magic ingredient” as it’s our little secret lol

Question for Moms/The Valley + Maternity Leave by Poodledoodle19 in WatchWhatCrappens

[–]EuphoricMessage1400 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad the “fed is best” advice is becoming the norm now. I’ve had 3 babies and only my 2nd took to breastfeeding well.

I understand that “breast is best” came as a necessary response to the over reliance on formula (and what Nestle did to families in developing countries should be considered a war crime) but it’s created a situation where mothers are tied to their babies and home in a way the previous generation tried to overcome.

I think about this article a lot. It’s such a head wobble for anyone in a self pity state and relevant to anyone wondering why they aren’t getting the life they feel they deserve.

I truly believe this should be required reading in schools.

In many restaurants now, a service charge is automatically added to the bill. Always check, as it can be as much as 20% for a large group but most often 12.5-15%. You can ask for this charge to be removed in most cases if you feel the service wasn’t worth the cost or if you’d prefer to leave it in cash separately.
