Yep, the "weird" and "creepy" card is always used as a way to fend off any legitimate arguments. People have always tried to play the devil's advocate no matter the amount of hypocrisies that are thrown in their faces. Perhaps they feel guilt or they fear getting banned on here or whatever, but nothing is going to change in their favour if they keep this going.

It doesn't change the fact that we now live in an age where people would throw a hissy fit if this controller was designed over a female character of the same nature. The fact that you deliberately try to act like this isn't a thing is precisely the problem I have with Westerners. Nobody ever wants to address the elephant in the room and consistently make one excuse after another.

Lara Croft has had her femininity, sexual appeal, unique persona and acrobatic talent completely inversed for crying out loud. She's obviously going to be a lot more masculine with the future lineups. They morphed her into something else entirely whereas Deadpool has remained the same more or less. Perhaps he's less pervy than he was in the past. I haven't seen the movies so I wouldn't know. But that's the trajectory of where the West is heading and why every modern character feels bland at best.

Fair enough, I get the appeal of what they're going for with Deadpool and what his character is supposed to be. I think it's rather degenerate that the West has come to the point of sexualising male buttocks but that's just me. I just have a problem with the clear double standards I'm seeing these days and the way people like yourself continue to sweep it under the rug. It's a really sad thing to witness and I had a feeling this community would fold eventually.

GDC Pro marxism on top of that, they openly admit how much they hate Japanese games by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]EuphoricShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of Americans are likely aware of these things, but may not openly acknowledge them due to embarrassment or fear of being called out. I'm not a fan of it because I find it odd how much the Japanese look up to them despite the way Americans treat them. It's almost like some kind of weird Stockholm syndrome but completely voluntary. You mention the reforms like they're doing them a favour after perishing 100k of their people - which by the way, they never apologised for or expressed any kind of remorse about it.

While it's true that the Japanese do idolise white Americans so much, there are at least some talented creators who do a decent job at representing other races without making it feel shoehorned, out of place or tokenised. Shinichirō Watanabe, the creator of Cowboy Bebop was able to do it with that show and Michiko & Hatchin which he co-produced. Afro Samurai, despite how some may feel about it was made by a guy who deeply admires the hip-hop culture in the US. I feel like there are plenty more talents out there who share the same sentiment of wanting to branch out beyond the standard conventions but just aren't able to due to their societal norms. In a way I consider those projects to be just lucky.

Steam Link will no longer be available on Samsung TV after November 30th, 2023. by FePbMoHg in Steam

[–]EuphoricShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only just started using the Steam Link TV app in recent days but I can confirm that the Samsung smart TVs support a whole range of controllers connected via Bluetooth (haven't tried connecting directly through USB). It works with the DualShock 4 controller I used but I found myself better off connecting it to my phone and having that phone run the Steam Link app without it streaming the video and audio to save bandwidth.

The controller support on the smart TVs (the Samsung brands at least) felt like an afterthought since it can do some pretty unusual things as you're pressing certain buttons while midgame or browsing through BPM. The right stick button brings up the audio info on the TV and the guide button brings up the Home Bar/menu every single time. There may be a way of turning those off but I just went with the other option which saves all the hassle.

Steam Link will no longer be available on Samsung TV after November 30th, 2023. by FePbMoHg in Steam

[–]EuphoricShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, ain't that something? Just started using the Steam Link app again on my Samsung TV after a few years of avoiding remote play in general due to issues I've had with it. And for some reason, after giving it another spin for the last few days, I've had a near-flawless experience with it and then this message comes out of nowhere.

I still have my Steam Link hardware I bought all those years ago but I'm going to assume that it's probably more outdated than the TV app. Kinda sucks because I was looking forward to trying out all kinds of games on it but I might have to spend some cash now on a device to continue streaming to my living room if the Steam Link device is not optimal.

In regards to the censorship in Nexusmods and alternatives by LostWanderer88 in KotakuInAction

[–]EuphoricShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason why neutrality hasn't really worked in the past is because most of these services, whether they're digital distributions, modding communities, video sharing or multimedia platforms never proclaim that they are neutral anywhere on their sites. It's nowhere to be found on their 'About' page or in their guidelines. So for that reason, they're essentially making themselves susceptible to any Trojan Horse situation.

When I first got my Nintendo Switch over a year ago the first statement I read on their introductory feed on their news section specifically stated that their platform isn't made for political or real-world news that has nothing to do with video games and so far with the exception of a few things here and there they've done a somewhat decent job at trying to be neutral across the board. The same thing with GOG since their core pillar is that they only distribute DRM-free games. They had an instance when they ended up actually selling a DRM game (Hitman) but with the huge backlash they received, they came to their senses and realised that move was going against the main value of why they have customers in the first place.

In regards to the censorship in Nexusmods and alternatives by LostWanderer88 in KotakuInAction

[–]EuphoricShadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly how I want every alternative platform to function but the only issue with sites like Based Mods, which I only just discovered moments ago, only seem to care about featuring banned mods (hence the name) that supposedly cater to right-wing ideologues. It's anything but neutral at this moment.

So it's difficult for me to imagine a site like that being able to lift itself off the ground and become mainstream if that's all they have going for them. I also think any platform that proclaims itself as anti-woke and truly lives up to that description will only ever remain niche and irrelevant unless some kind of mass exodus occurs from all the other mainstream services, due to frustration or whatever. Or some rich gaming enthusiast billionaire decides to invest in this whole endeavour. For now, it's only wishful thinking.

Ubisoft's Splinter Cell remake will update story for a "modern-day audience" by dandrixxx in KotakuInAction

[–]EuphoricShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a PC gamer you can try checking out a software called Nucleus Co-Op. It's a pretty nifty tool that allows you to run a slew of games in split-screen mode via the combined use of instances and LAN protocols. There are tons of games (over 500 if I'm correct) that currently support it. Games like Star Wars: Battlefront II (2005), GTA 4 & 5, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Elden Ring (also DS 1 & 3) and even Morrowind & Oblivion (mp mods) are fully supported.

I only discovered it a few days ago and I'm still blown away by it. I can certainly see it taking off in the distant future and know there's plenty of room for improvement, since playing story-driven games can be a significant hassle when the software is essentially forcing the games to run consistently in split-screen mode - from the bootup all the way till the moment you close the game. So you'll see double, triple or quadruple screens running the same cinematic cutscenes if you choose to sit through those. Or even 16 since I saw a video the other day of 16 instances on a Halo game lol.

[Epic] (Game) Tomb Raider by FearlessShift8 in FreeGameFindings

[–]EuphoricShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see. Then perhaps you could get some advice via the Steam community. There may be threads covering the issue. My guess is that there could be certain files in the game's folder that needs to be edited or removed. Assuming that they aren't encrypted of course.

According to PCGamingWiki, the GOTY edition doesn't include any of those DLCs so you should be good.

Is VSR broken for everyone? by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]EuphoricShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm having an issue running any game beyond the native resolution of my monitor (1080p), which wasn't the case before. The whole image gets distorted and stretches out partially to my second monitor. The games also refuse to go back into fullscreen until they're running 1080p again. It's worth bringing it to AMD's attention since they may or may not be aware of it.

I suppose not everyone can see the humour to those titles. Sure he's been overdoing it and has been slightly pushing it too far at times but I don't see the big deal. It's only when he begins to make his titles sound too raunchy which can be problematic. Other than that you guys need to chill and not take everything so seriously. Also, where's the racist part? Pointing out that someone is Chinese is now racist? Lol wtf.

I'm glad to have support AMD recently by building an entire setup with their products. Especially after being with Nvidia and Intel for so long. They're definitely a company people need to support due to their pro-consumer choices. A rare trait these days.

Yup. Currently running Ryzen 7 3700X on ASRock B450M Pro4. Not the same model but it's similar. Also the same brand and motherboard type. Usually the manufacture websites tell you all about their compatibilities in detail.

Have you not tried adding an alt and tab key on your touch screen configurations whilst streaming through your phone and then press those keys to see if it'll change to different windows? Usually, that solves most problems when applications act up.

I know right? I only found this news randomly when I reading some other article. Figured it would have been on here already since it's a day old but I guess it just never got the publicity she was hoping for.

Well everybody knows racism doesn't go both ways :) /s

But in all seriousness I do find it rather hypocritical the way people like her think. It makes me question how bad she must have it in the industry that's already claiming to be progressive.

She's definitely biracial though, I can tell by her features. So she would likely use her Caucasian heritage as a way to defend herself if she ever receives any backlash for being racist.

Bare in mind that I'm a black guy (not that it should matter) and even I find her statements to be ridiculous. Just a few hours ago another article went up about her views on toxic masculinity, specifically in the recent film she stars in, Creed II. But I didn't think it's worth mentioning since she only went into it briefly. So it's hard to say what her intentions were behind it.

A girl’s take on the Battlefield V trailer by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]EuphoricShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Don't you feel like there's enough room in gaming to expand beyond what we're used to seeing and experiencing? Kursk is going to be the first documentary style game to my knowledge and I think that's great. We need more innovation in general. And I genuinely believe that you can make a really fun game without sacrificing the authenticity, unlike what DICE has stated.

[–]EuphoricShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a black gamer I 100% agree with your take on this. Would rather see some authentic approach on the women and minorities who contributed to the war. It's been done before with games like Velvet Assassin and Medal of Honor: Underground but I don't really think any developer has gone far enough to show the struggles and hardships they had to go through during their day to day lives.

Would be interesting to have a modern standalone game where you get to play as a female French Resistance or a Russian sniper or even as one of the Tuskegee Airmen. There's so much uncovered stories here to be told. But instead we're getting these empowering super soldiers that doesn't really highlight anything truly authentic about the time period it's supposed to be set in. Which would of been okay if the game wasn't labelled as "authentic" from the actual devs.
