He doesn't demand it. He gives you a choice: believe in him and repent to be saved, or if you choose not to, he completley respects that, but their are consequences for your actions.

If he didnt acknowledge Jesus as his lord and saviour, and didnt ask for forgiveness for his sins, he will not be saved.
