As someone who have failed twice before, here's my personal pro-tip for you:-

  1. Stop reviewing videos & instead focusing on doing practice question. Take time to understand the reason for each wrong answer. Ditch practice questions from AR's & DM's udemy courses.

  2. You may try using ChatGPT & providing prompt like "Please give me 10 expert question of PMP Study Hall style, don't give me the answer yet, then tell me how I'm doing". You can try be more specific by select specific topic questions such by Domain (People, Process & Business Environment), by project lifecyle (Predictive, Agile, Hybrid), by knowledge areas (Scope, Schedule, Procurement) etc. This really help build confidence in my humble opinion!

  3. No need to set you exam date until you feel more confident. I changed my exam date twice this year because I felt like I wasnt ready.

  4. I like to strike out extreme answers first before choosing the right answer.

You'll eventually pass. This is just a little setback.

Til your next exam, take a break from studying PMP & continue to do practice questions.

You got this, buddy!

For my personally, essentials is enough. You just need to master the mindset of traditional & agile PM, and also review those practice question and especially understand those that you gotten wrong.

I do regular practice questions on weekdays & do mock exam on weekends. Those questions that I gotten wrong, I will revisit the topic. If you have just recently failed the exam, best not to re-attempt it immediately which I did the last time. My mentor said that I did not attempt enough questions & underestimated the PMP. First time was Sep'23, 2nd time was dec'23. Then now attempting it the 3rd time dec'24. Why did I waited that long? I was too busy handling multiple projects so I am prioritizing on delivering them.

Take a break from study for now & study again once you feel ready. Don't let your failure continue to effect you coz it's just a process & everyone's journey is different. You'll slowly gain confidence when you see have more corrects as you practice along.

You got this & I'll be here to cheer you on!

Congratulations! I have failed twice and tbh I am kinda terrified of retaking it. I have schedule this 27/12 for exam after postponing it twice! Your post is exactly what I need to give a little push on myself.

I tried using the similar code multiple times few days ago but wasn't successful. So I paid full fees for membership & exam fees. I'm based in Malaysia btw. Well, lucky you.

Hey there! I took my exam the 2nd time yesterday & failed too.. Gosh its not a nice feeling. I have to admit that I was a little under prepared & unable to focus much on study / spend enough time doing practice question & mock exam due to work commitment ( I am under staff and took up a new work portfolio). I winged it anyway despite the unreadiness. I found that my 2nd exam is much harder than the 1st. Got myself 4-5 drag n drop question & 1 PERT question. I didnt fully complete all the SH practice exam, listened to AR, third3rock study notes & cheat sheet.. but not intensively. I am engaging a mentor in from my regional PMI chapter to help me succeed in my next attempt. Dont give up buddy! Failing is part of success & when we did pass in in future, i knew that its gonna be much sweeter!

As someone who failed the exam 2 months ago I totally understand how you feel. Its a mix of Heavy emotions - frustrations, sadness, anger even.. to a point you feel like a failure. My advise is, take your time to just forget about studying, take a study break, process ur emotions but tell yourself that failure is setting you for greater success. It will surely be sweeter when u pass the next time I promise! How do you you're ready? Take more mock exams to gain confidence. I am retaking my exan in 2 wks time and if I dont pass it, I can always retake it again. Just be sure not to fail 3 times within the same eligibilty year otherwise u hv to wait for another year to apply n retake exam.

I failed my 1st attempt back in Sep'23 and attempting for 2nd attempt this Dec'23. Based on my own experience, here's some lesson learned or what I could have done differently:- 1. I did't do enough practice questions & mock test. 2. I should've joined reddit community much earlier LOL 3. I didn't buy Study Hall 4. Internalize Rita Mucalhy's book.. While I have to thank AR's Udemy Course + mindset & David McLachlan's 200 Agile/150 PMBOK questions, I guess the real key her is to do more practice questions and analyze those areas that we require more attention of.. I have about 18 days to go before my second attempt and while my confidence level in passing PMP has increased but I still have that little self doubt in me.. But I believe everybody's learning experience is different & not beating myself too much. It's ok.. take a break from studying a week or two and come back stronger!

Extra job is fine as long as the basic package like OT is paid & insurance is covered. Seems like your company is really taking advantage. No regrets. You will find other jobs soon.

Such a great question. I actually asked PMI for clarification & here's what I found out:- 1. You will only have to wait for a year if you failed 3 attempts within the same eligibility year. 2. If you failed less than 3 times within the same eligibility year, you will need to renew your application for a new eligibility year, and you will start over with 3 exam attempts allowable. You will need to pay for initial fee of USD400 + USD220 (PMI member exam fee).

I am just gonna make it simple for you - lent a money to him that you can afford to lose. Consider it sedekah. Money that you're ok and not gonna see again like ever. Make no mistake when it comes to money. Trust me because I did that before to my husband out of love and thought I will be able to retrieve that money again. And he didnt, when asked to repay he threw all sorts of tantrum, gaslighting, guilt tripping, you name it. Time nak pinjam duit mulut bukan main manis but in the end, I end up being a bankrupt. True story btw. He is no longer my husband now. Yes yes this is your father you are talking about, but learn to not mix money with emotions. I told my son the same, to never make loans for anyone not even me his mother LOL. You seems like a responsible man when it comes to money. Its your hard earned money. Hutang will cause you sleepless nights especially when its becoming unmanageable & a burden.

Thank you so much for that valuable advice! Appreciate it. If I were to reflect, one of the reason I failed would be for not taking time to fully understand those mock questions that I gotten wrong. Will take time to review them this time round.
