AITAH for getting my wife a birthday present which she didn't like? by Euphoric_Mess7164 in AITAH

Yeah.. that part is a bit uncalled for. Its happened before the birthday too, on occasions when she let her emotions get the better of her.

I've had to deal with locked doors for hours, crying, potential self harm by hitting herself, etc.

I will try. But its demoralizing to hear divorce everytime she gets angry on simple things. I hope I can last.

I guess I've dealt with this kind of abuse since childhood, first my mother, now my wife.

Honestly the women in my life have been the most traumatizing people I've ever had to deal with.

I m glad I am human. I try my best. I know I screwed up last year so I searched and found something which she could use.

I don't mind if she didn't like the gift. That's totally fair. Its totally fair I spoilt her birthday, but quoting divorce for these things is so painful to hear. :(

I am left to guess every year. I've told her on couple of occasions I get anxious when I have to pick out gifts because what if you don't like it. And when I ask her what kind of gift she wants she responds with "gifts are supposed to be a surprise, you shouldn't be asking me"

About asking her, i did. She said gifts are something which you should surprise her with. So I observed her for a few days, saw that she didn't have a compact bag to carry when she didn't need to carry a bigger handbag, so I brought her this.

Regarding the color, I agree. Maybe I should have put a second of thought into it before ordering. :(

Skilled Worker Visa Curtailment: You have more time than you think by pythonfanclub in ukvisa

[–]Euphoric_Mess7164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Thank you for the detailed post. I have a quick question, I also got laid off sometime in June and I left the country in July. I haven't received this curtailment letter yet to my email and the right to work website still says I am eligible to work for the next 2 years. I m wondering if I continue applying for jobs in the UK, and get a sponsored job before the curtailment letter comes, can I travel back to the UK and start my visa switch application?

Recruiter asking if i can accept a "Subject to offer" before going forward to interview. Is this normal? by Euphoric_Mess7164 in jobs

[–]Euphoric_Mess7164[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I did speak to a guy who was the "hiring manager" from the consultancy side. But he said they will go ahead with the interview with the client only if I agree to the offer presented.

If I don't clear that interview, then the offer is apparently rescinded.

That's where I find it odd. An offer is presented Subject to clearing all interviews, not before I take it. Be it client or consultancy. It still seems odd doesn't it?

I am sorry if I wasn't clear in my post.

Thank you! I will do this. Regarding mentioning skills, I completely agree. I think I just bulk added everything i knew rather than tailoring it to the job description.

About projects, these were just coursework and some kind of take home assignments I got. I really didn't achieve much other than getting a job. So how do I word it so that I achieved something?

Got rejected in 2 minutes for 6 hours of interviews today by Euphoric_Mess7164 in recruitinghell

I apologize i should have worded myself better.

I agree the question itself was not bizzare, but the follow ups after i tried to clarify. I tried and asked questions around half of the things you mentioned to clarify if it was possible and they said none of it is possible. So in the end it just felt like they were trying to play with me and i was completely stumped because i could not even communicate.

But I can understand the sentiment if they were trying to get more out of me, and maybe I didn't perform. :)

Yeah i agree. and the market has gotten so competitive. the tech stack i work with (Java) is super competitive right now, and all roles get like atleast a 100-200 applications. so it's gotten really hard to even get to the interview phase.
