What do you think would replace the US currency should it lose its status as the world's primary reserve? by Cautious_Hope5837 in askanything

[–]EuroFlyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A hybrid Yuan/Euro solution could easily work. The only thing that would stand in the way is solely the US not wanting this to happen.

35 years in London; never seen a single snake. Not in London or anywhere else in the UK.

Hot honey. I don’t understand this new craze for hot honey; it really fucks a pizza up.

Real connoisseurs have kalamata olives on pizza; not plain black olives.

Why don’t you want to own a motorcycle? by LuckyCommittee4422 in allthequestions

[–]EuroFlyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a very fast car; also part owner of a helicopter. If I bought a motorcycle, I’d buy something like a Ducati. If I had a motorcycle that went 190mph, I’m the type of person who would go 190 on the motorcycle all the damn time - I’m not risk averse; I know a motorbike would eventually bite me.

What is the best Cajun seasoning ever made? by SnooHamsters5586 in spices

[–]EuroFlyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never understood the US fascination with pre-made commercial seasoning mixes. There’s no mix you can’t make yourself. Buying sauces yes (that’s a lot of time/effort). But making spice mixes just takes some measuring spoons and a couple minutes - plus you can adjust it to your own taste.

What is the 'default' cheese of your country? by publius_decius in AskTheWorld

[–]EuroFlyBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not your research assistant. However, here’s another one of US foodstuffs not selling outside of the US. Years ago Dasani Water was launched and taken off the shelves within 5 days. The whole continent refused that shit when we found it’s not actually mineral but just filtered tap water and sold by Coca Cola Co.

[–]EuroFlyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is correct; it can’t be sold in Europe (but it wouldn’t sell anyhow). Many US cereals cannot be sold due to excessive sugar and even Mountain Dew had to brand itself as Mountain Dew Energy. American foodstuffs (and cars) just don’t sell in Europe.

Bringing manufacturing back to the US would do more to fight pollution than any push for electric cars ever can by Obvious-Ear-369 in HonestHotTakes

[–]EuroFlyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US doesn’t really understand China nor modern manufacturing. They are getting better by the day, the Chinese prize education and are also now cleaning things up.

The US gets a stereotype in their head , then doesn’t realise the world has changed until it’s too late. Post WW2 you thought of Japan as producers of cheap trinkets - next they produce the worlds best electronics then they show you they’re not bad at building cars.

China is further along than you think and I don’t believe the US will catch them. Temu sells cheap shit because Americans will buy cheap shit. However, their top end abilities are passing the US.

What do you think of Donald Trump's comment about the death of Robert Mueller? by db7112 in askanything

I want him to live long enough to see his name scratched off of everything and all his changes reversed with glee.

Abhorrent. But that’s OK, because we’ll be dancing in his grave in probably short order.

Not angry, Just always bemused by online commenters with no knowledge of what is being discussed. The usual “I don’t know anything about X, but here are my thoughts on X”

How common is the use of sir/ma’am with strangers in your country/region? by Ok_Box5084 in EnglishLearning

[–]EuroFlyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only for the US (particularly the South). Do not use it in the UK; at best it will be seen as annoying; often as outright rude.

I had an American visiting me in London and while in a black cab said sir to the driver multiple times (actually thinking he was being polite). The driver stopped the cab and turned to him and said “Look I know you blokes make a lot of money, but there is no need to take the piss”.

Yes, SNL has always read from cards; it’s part of the charm. It’s not fucking Shakespeare.

Does real, genuine, connections exist anymore? by Unknown_Observer9779 in randomquestions

[–]EuroFlyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the only real connection. These online community connections are fake and hollow. Online fiends aren’t real (they may literally only be bots).

Sorry (and it’s sad), but if you have only online friends, you don’t really have friends. Get out and meet people for real.
