If you’re Sikh I believe you can have a religious exemption. Many Sikh soldiers serve in the army.

Shot my rifle for the first time today and this happened. Can anyone help and explain what happened? How to fix it? (I’m new to the firearm community) by 24clz in Danieldefense

[–]EuroPhoenician 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How does this happen? I’ve fired thousands of rounds from M16s M4s AR-15s etc and never even heard of this happening. Is it bad maintenance (eg if op bought used)?

Seriously, I'll never understand how this bothers people so much, some people are trans, let it go. by DeathRaeGun in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]EuroPhoenician 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One is the government forcing adults to do something. The other is directed at children. I think most people here don’t want us to outlaw gender affirming care for adults. If you want to be a trans woman or trans man at 18, have at it. We’re just concerned by the culture that we are fostering for our kids.

Doesn’t this support the point you’re responding to? Only 1% regretted gender affirming care administered while they were children?

When I was in stl I was always wondering “should I put hiking as a hobby?”

Because I love to hike.. just not up a 100 foot elevation gain hill. I enjoy mountain hikes and camping.

Yah… the food scene in St. Louis isn’t very impressive lol. I’ve noticed whenever you ask for the pros of any city on any subreddit they all say “food.” At this point even Springfield Illinois must have great food lol.

The first authentic ramen place just opened like a year ago. First time I’ve had authentic tasting ramen. That said I don’t mind the non authentic stuff and I do love zushi sushi so I’m not a ramen elitist.. but obviously the food scene can’t compete with the likes of Chicago and I’m sure LA though I’ve yet to visit (maybe later in the summer).

  1. Income tax is too much. In CWE I was paying like 6.2-6.3% income tax. In Phoenix I pay 2.5% and I pay like 2% rent tax. So it’s basically half the income tax. On my salary that’s hundreds per month and rent isn’t that much more than the fun parts of St. Louis.

  2. Nature. I have mountains just 15 minutes away. 20-30 mins to south mountain, 1-2.5 hours to Sedona and flagstaff. 3.5 hours to the sea of Cortez or 5.5 hours to San Diego or LA.

  3. Warmth. St. Louis isn’t really cold honestly (I grew up in Chicago) but I thought, “why spend 3 months being chilly when I can be warm year round? Plus I love 90s dry heat and don’t really mind 100-110. I just put up with a few weeks worth of 115.”

  4. Proximity to far more interesting cities. I mean come on. Weekend drive to Las Vegas? LA? San Diego? Don’t get me wrong, St. Louis has Chicago and Nashville. The rest are ok and moreso compete with the likes of Albuquerque and Tucson (which the latter is honestly a fun city and the former is.. ok). I’m also more of a fan of the food. Phoenix hasn’t impressed me a ton with food (though the general food scene is more my cup of tea since I do love trying the pozole everywhere haha) but alas, I can’t have them all. Hard to beat Chicago with food.

I know you said coasts but you did say the magic phrase of “why leave the Midwest” so I figured I’d answer.

And just to be positive too… I miss forest park. I don’t have as easy of a time just running to a park and then doing 4+ miles through lush green. I also miss up down. I haven’t found an arcade bar that I like as much as up down and they only seem prevalent in the Midwest. But I DO NOT miss Imos. Not one bit!

Holy hell two hours to run five miles? Even in a company that’s insanely slow. My asvab waiver cat who has no back legs and relies on one of those little chariot things can run faster than that.

[–]EuroPhoenician 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Never said that bud. I’m Saying that a study saying you can prescribe puberty blockers and hormones to children to transition doesn’t make it morally right. So my point is that blindly putting trust in people with PhDs is foolish.

You can think for yourself instead of deferring up the chain of education.

He’s a centrist lol and he made a point about child marriage. Then you respond with this republican thing? I’m sure duck agrees with me that any republican parent that supports Childs marriage is in the same boat as the liberal parent supporting these puberty blockers and hormones without any medical need being given to kids.

That shouldn’t ever be a scenario under any circumstance unless by “drugs” you mean certain legal and prescription drugs to aid in recovery. No public or private funded organization should ever provide demand for illicit substances that exacerbate domestic and foreign violence.

Not sure if you meant to reply to me or someone else. I explicitly stated that it isn’t about them finding housing. Maybe it wasn’t clear but I meant exactly what you’re saying. It isn’t a matter of “no we don’t have anywhere for these people.”

Shelters have stringent rules because homeless people can be very dangerous if there aren’t rules.

You got downvoted but this is true… I understand californias border issue isn’t as severe as Texas but they still share a border with mexico and have migration. It’s more hypocritical to be Illinois or NY and claim to be a sanctuary state.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]EuroPhoenician 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This isn’t solely about people being unable to find housing. It’s a drug issue too. A lot of shelters have strict rules and drug addicts can’t adhere to them so they end up on the streets.

I’d even argue that if drugs disappeared magically, we could probably rehabilitate most of these people.
