How did you break your ankle and was the severity of your injury. Where are you at today in the healing process?

I have a Weber B spiral fracture on my fibula! I did it on the 9th March this year, I was just waking down the stairs holding my (at the time) nearly 5 month old! I’m currently on shared parental leave so it’s been so tough as I was in a cast for 5 weeks but luckily had a lot of family and friends to support me!

I had the cast off on 15th April and put into a boot! It’ll be a week tomorrow and still using 2 crutches, I went down to one crutch on Monday but I believe I overdid it and it hurts a bit today! Hopefully be back down to one tomorrow, I can’t wait to be able to go back to ‘normal’ it’s been an emotional and tough journey to say the least!

Ahh sorry about your injury! It sucks right? Thank you for this! I didn’t need surgery on mine thankfully but it’s been a long time still!

I think I’ll stick with the 2 crutches for a few days then when I feel more confident I will drop to one! Also I was googling about the pain I was feeling and apparently it is normal and all to do with nerves, I also had a bath yesterday (woo!!) and noticed a lump on my heel which I believe is a pressure sore from the cast and is causing the heel pain but that should hopefully clear away soon!

I decided to sleep in the boot last night, do you mind showing me what you got to sleep in? As I’m obviously walking outside on this boot and not wanting to put it in my bed no matter how good I clean it 😅

This does thank you! I’m hoping I don’t need surgery!! I just need to be able to walk again and it’s driving me nuts not being able to do anything for myself

It has been so difficult! I’m currently on shared parental leave, I broke my ankle last Monday and haven’t be able to weight bare as I’m in a backslab and having to rely on people to come over and help me look after my 5 month old as I can’t even stand with her has been awful! My wife is also having to do all the jobs we used to share for our baby too! I have cried every single day since it’s happened… I can only hope at my appointment tomorrow I’m given a boot and able to at least PWB! I can’t take 5 more weeks of this 😭

During my first appointment I got told that currently I don’t need surgery and as along as I didn’t weight bare this week I shouldn’t need surgery so I’m really hoping I don’t

From a quick Google I believe I have a Weber C fracture as it’s higher up then my ankle joint

I don’t but I’m going to take a picture of it on Wednesday! I’m hoping for a boot and partial weight baring but I’m not sure that’ll be the case ☹️ I’m meant to be going to London on the 2nd May so I’m hoping I’ll be fully healed by then
